Default PS3 and Onkyo 605 Zone 2

I want to play a CD on my PS3 and listen to it on my Zone 2 speakers. I have the PS3 connected to the Onkyo 605 via HDMI and I just connected the PS3 using the supplied cable to the DVD input. I am using the PS3 as as the source for the DVD. How would I/do I get sound in Zone 2? To make it a bit clearer, pehaps, the PS3 is now connected to the Onkyo 604 via both HDMI and the supplied analog cable and the PS3 is my DVD source on the receiver. I am connecting the Zone 2 speakers soon and want to enjoy a cigar and a drink while everything works as it should. Thanks!

No changing of the DVD assignment, etc? And, I suppose, nothing to change around with the tuner. Thanks. Now if the installer would just get here I can find out how good the Outdoor Speaker Depot 650 HD speakers sound on my patio.

Default Well I just got around to it

and it does not work this way. Do I need to change a setting in the PS3 setup? I have it set on Direct for the PS3? Do I need to change that to something else and if so what? I also need to know how to connect the Dish DVR 722 so that I can use that as a source as well. I gather that I must use the analog signal/inputs.

your receiver manual should outline any sources or inputs that it cannot output to zone 2. likely the hdmi inputs are one of them. In this case, you would have to go into your ps3 settings and change the audio output to the analog connections. The ps3 does not allow output throught 2 connections at once.

I am still confused, sadly! I have the PS3 as the DVD input on my Onkyo 605. Do I need to make a change there from Direct to Last Valid, Analog or something else or do I have to change the PS3 setting and if so how do I do that and is there a setting where I do not have to change back and forth from just to get sound out to Zone 2? Many thanks!

nada from the PS3. Spring training will be passing by quickly and I will NEED to hear the game as broadcast by Dish on my DVR 722 and not to mention the Allman Brothers CD over my PS3 as I grill out. Any and all help is most appreciated. Many thanks!

and analog. I would like to just make the change without having to fool with the PS3 settings if possible.

hooked up via the supplied analog cable. What gives? How should I connect that cable. Maybe I have it connected incorrectly?

you would have to choose the analog setting on the ps3 sound menu. Did you turn the zone2 to active on the hardware menu of your receiver?

and I have sound when using the tuner. I am hopeful that I can make a change on the receiver without having to change the PS3 settings. Is that possible and if so what settings do I make on the receiver? I notice there is last valid, direct, etc. I also still need advise on how to make the connections from the Dish DVR 722 to the Onkyo 605. Presently, both the Dish receiver and the PS3 are connected via HDMI. Thanks, again!

the ps3 setting in the ps3's audio menu would have to be set to analog, for it to work. can't be digital, or else zone 2 won't work. I am not sure how to fix up you other stuff though. You would also have to put your analog set to a different input. For example ps3-hdmi-game mode. For zone 2 it would have to be ps3-analog-cd
