Default Did I make the wrong choice?

I have read a couple of threads on plasmas and alot has been said about the panasonic and the samsung. I have bought, (not yet delivered), a 60 inch LG plasma. I am wondering now if I had made a bad choice, or will it be acceptable. I couldnt deny the price so thats why I bought it.

The only negative I have ever heard from LG tv's is the color decoding can be off a bit.

If you have the extra money, you might consider an ISF calibration.

But, in the mean time do a disc calibration and if you like it the way it is then no need for an ISF.

Other than that, I think you will enjoy! Best thing to do is never regret. There will always be something bigger and better. Just enjoy what you have!

What he said! You can let people drive you nuts telling you what's best and what you should do. If you read on AVS you will see people that are just like a dog chasing their tale constantly looking for something bigger and better.

Tweak it the way you want and as mentioned, enjoy it!

Enjoy your new TV. Unless you plan on buying a new TV again in the near future. Stick your head under a rock till then and don't read anything about new TV's. Once you buy a new TV the next best thing is in the stores. It's marketing.

I usually don't buy a new TV but every three years. Till then, I cover my ears and eyes.

That's a big bang for your buck set. My mother bought an LG plasma not too long ago and its a great set, so don't sweat it. Are there better ones out there? Sure, but they're also much more expensive. At the price you paid you would be hard pressed to find a better set at that size for the same amount of money. There are very few options at that size anyway. Believe me you could have done much worse.

You did just fine with your set. do a google search for calibration settings to get you in the ball park and then start enjoying!

Im on there (mostly browsing for info) cuz theres TONS of it due to so many high tech geeks on there. But your right, about many of them coming off like there never satisfied. Hate to say it, but some of them dont seem normal because they get so ANAL about performance tweaking. Theres also is alot of bickering too due to knowledge competitions going on in threads. Thats why you see threads that literally have like 10,000+ posts, so it goes far beyond the purpose of being an information sharing site.

Yeah i completely agree. You guy's should check out

http://www.highdefjunkies.com/ it's a very good site and there's plenty of knowledgable people over there. The site isn't as big as avs but you can say or talk about what ever you want including price . Nothing is really taboo, just try to respect the other poster's if you can. It really is a pretty cool forum site for hdtv nuts......

Stay with your gut man, if it told you to go with the lg in the first place this is most likely the set you are going to be the happiest with, lg makes great products..

I had LG50PS60 i thin it has similar specs, i return it because and got the sammy b650.

Here is some pro and cons.

Pros
1 Glass Panel
Good remote with many shortcut
Energy saving mode
No buzz
Pretty good in upscale and decent black level
A lot of Mode
Swivel Stand

Cons.
Only limit to 60hz on 24p blu-ray material
A lot of IR (Burn In) Issue (see throught logo and text when is close)
Do not had burn in protection in the menu.
Require some level of calibration
Energy mode cause is too dimmed
Even in normal mode white level is a bit dimmed
Sound interface with receiver (if you connect your tv to receiver, you must turn the volume down to 0 or you might heard volume from the tv that it caus sync issue)

Again that experience is base on my lg50ps60, not the exatly same model, but probably share many of the pros and cons.
the amount you paid is consider pretty good for new 60" 1080p plasma
But i don't trust LG personally, their picture is not as good as other 2 current big plasma brother (Samsung and Panasonic)

The lg set i got i use probably more than 200 hours before return it it still suffer ir burn in issue. I do not think lg has burn it protection even this model, which is a step down.

Many people have stated that they've seen more image retention with LG sets, but I think the problem is with the default orbiter setting as well as the default picture settings. My mother got an LG plasma a couple of months ago, and as soon as I turned it on to set it up for her I went into the menu and adjusted the orbiter and I've yet to see any retention. Just something that I thought I would throw out there. The default picture settings also suck and need calibrating, but once properly setup an LG will produce very solid picture.
