Exclamation Help with me make the right choice!

I have the Klipsch Reference 82 home theater setup 6.1. I have had them for about a year, they are awesome i love them. But i have the opertunity to get brand new from MartinLogan a home theater set up for right at about 70% off, the fronts i was looking at was the source's and the matinee for the center channel and the encore tf's for the rears. I have heard rave reviews about the Martin Logan line, but have never heard them, I am going to BBY this week to listen to them , What is yalls opinion, keep the Refrence (which i have a buyer that would essentially after he bought my Reference i wouldnt pay a dime for the Martin Logans and would probably profit about 500 bucks) So please let me know what you all would do, not bashing but if you didnt like one or the other for some reason please tell. All help will be appreciated.

This is an absolute no-brainer. I promise that you will love the Martin Logans. Go to a Best Buy Magnolia store to check them out and I guarantee you will feel foolish if you pass up on them. Don't get me wrong. I love the Klipsch Reference series, but the ML's are just excellent. I hate going in the Magnolia room to listen to them because I want them, but I can't afford them. They are some of the best speakers that I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. I know that there are even better speakers out there, but you will spend considerably more money for them and with marginal gain. Grab these and don't look back. I'm sure most others in this forum will agree.

I would make that decision AFTER you listen to them

Sounds like a good deal though..... try to bring some listening material you're very familiar with (From the Cradle is a favorite of mine for auditioning)

I'd pick the Logans any day. I think for music they are the hands down winner. HT performance might be more of a wash, but that is just my taste. I prefer the more tactile sound of monopoles for HT.

Running a full set of Martin Logans would probably benefit from an external amp. Funny, we were just talking about this in another thread a moment ago.

Well, you will be running a full set of 4ohm speakers if you go with the logans. Actually I think Martin Logan rates them as 5 ohm, but I have heard that's optimistic. It may take a toll on your receiver.

Even so I'd still take the Logans, and buy an amp if it was necessary. Look at the Emotivas, power is pretty cheap these days. Who knows though, your pioneer may run them and be happy. Hell, you may not even think they are better then the Klipsches . I like 'em better though.
The possibility of needing an amp should be considered.

I guess i do need to look at that, b/c i wouldnt really have any extra money to buy an amp with the speakers if it was needed, was pretty much going to try to break even with the klipsch if i did, if not make just a little bit of profit. Having to do a little saving since i lost my full time job. I will research to see how my Elite avr may handle it. dont want to tax it too much!

Good idea. Check Pioneers website and their FAQ. Also consider how loudly you listen to your gear. If you listen at moderate levels the chances you'll have problems is low. If you like to crank it, or have a big room that requires high volume the chances you'll tax the receiver go up.
