Default Help with Onkyo display

Hey guys, I had a question and did a quick search and did not come up with anything. I have the Onkyo 876 and when I play a bluray through my Panasonic player (where all audio codecs are set to bitstream), my Onkyo display does not show Dolby TrueHD, it shows something like PLIIx (although the Dolby light is lit)like all the pictures online show. When I'm sending DTS-HD, it shows "NEO:6" (the DTS light is lit though).

Anybody here can help me so my receiver will actually show the codec I'm throwing at it. And to answer the inevitable "is it plugged in" question, yes, I have set the audio on each disc manually to the HD codec (either DTS or Dolby). Thanks for any help you can offer.

Assuming you're really sending it out from the Panny player via bitstream connected via HDMI or analog outs, you should be able to cycle through the listening modes and get back to DTS-HD MA, etc.

If not, go into the setup and make sure that DTS-HD MA is set to DTS-HD MA, TrueHD to TrueHD, and etc. It may be defaulting to one of the other ones.

Yes, everything is connected HDMI. I think I tried cycling through the listening modes and that did not work. DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD never showed up. Am I supposed to be checking the Panny player for that or the receiver on the default aspect? I assume you mean the Panny.

Make sure to set secondary audio to OFF in the Panasonic audio setup. .

Aramis doesn't mean scrolling through the listening modes. He means going into the setup menu and making sure that DTS MA is set to DTS MA and that Dolby True HD is set to Dolby True HD. If they're set as something like "Last Valid" then you're likely to get Dolby Digital or something like that.

Well, I meant trying that first, actually. I know on mine I can scroll through and get back to the proper codec (though for me that's Multich since I'm sending it out PCM from the PS3). However you're correct on the rest of it.

As far as the other question, look in the Onkyo's setup, not the Panny's.

Make sure, also, that the receiver isn't sending audio to the television as well. If the receiver is outputting to the television, that can cause it to choose what the television can support.

If you're using the player in your sig, the DMP-BD10, it won't bitstream DTS-MA. Not sure about Dolby TrueHD. Set to PCM

Also, always make sure you're choosing the HD track on the disc. Most movies default to lossy soundtracks.

I have a DB10AK, and it will not support DTS HD or True HD wether by bitstream or PCM(2.0 only actually). It will play movies in LPCM 5.1 or 7.1, but the Disc has to have PCM (uncompressed) as a choice in the setup menu under Audio. Otherwise you will only be getting the "Core" DTS and DD.

Thanks for straightening it out.
