Okay, I'm trying to finish the whole setup, but I don't know enough about audio. I have a set of Klipsch speakers -- 2 floor speakers, a center channel, and 2 rears -- and a Martin Logan sub. I'd like to get a 7.1 channel receiver now and try to upgrade the last 2 rear speakers later, but I have a few questions. I was hoping that some of you could help me answer them...
1. If I have a Samsung BD-P1000 with audio outputs, do I still need receiver with HDMI inputs and outputs? 2. Will the HDMI plus the audio outputs from a receiver give me the best sound for PCM and other uncompressed audio Blu-rays? If so, can someone maybe explain why as well? 3. And finally, assuming I need a receiver that does have HDMI inputs and one output to the TV, does the receiver need to 1080p capable to take full advantage of 1080p resolution from my Blu-ray to my TV still? Thank you in advance for any help that you can offer. |

I know if I was just starting a new setup I would wait for the 1.3 hdmi amps to start rolling out b4 I did anything... for our main tv set up we went with McIntosh MX-136.. I feel like its the best audio I've ever heard but for that much it should be... my advice wait for the 1.3hdmi amps

Yamaha makes a ~$500 amp with HDMI pass through that is not 1080p. They also make the $1500 V2700 that has 1080p HDMI pass through and sounds incredible. But, do I need to spend that? I'm going for the best PQ first, and then for sound. |

Thank you! That really helps. My follow up and hopefully last question: If I were to use the HDMI straight to the TV and only use the audio to the receiver, will I loose sound quality? Will I still be able to take advantage of uncompressed sound from Blu-ray?

Since the Sammy 1000 can not do Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD and DTS-HD Master Audio, your fine. I would run a digtal audio out since the Sammy 1000 does not have 7.1 analog out & you want 7.1.
Does the sammy do PCM uncompressed? That would be the only reson to use the analogs but that will limit you to 5.1 PCM uncompressed Last edited by clyon; 06-25-2007 at 12:34 AM. |
