United Kingdom An American Werewolf in London (upgrading from HDDVD!)

Decided to update my very nice HDDVD of An American Werewolf in in London.

The Blu-ray (same in the UK as it is in North America I believe) has what looks like an excellent new documentary (or at least it's new to me) called Beware The Moon

Disc review: http://www.dvdtherapy.com/review_info.php?id=2106

I think I paid £1.50 for the HDVD (when the format was dying!) and never did I dream I'd get another HD disc of it but I picked this up for £7. I reckon that's pretty good.

One of my all-time favourite films. Love it.

Its funny you should post this now, my sister bought me this the other day for my birthday. But when I tried to open I realised the staff at the store had forgotten to remove the red plastic security tab, and I couldn't get it out. She was gutted. I feel sorry for the member of staff that will have to remove it for her when she goes back in

Just watched this and the new documentary -wonderful. The documentary is obviously done on a very tight shoestring which is what I like because everything is left to the talking heads to get over the greatness of the production. And they do it well over the 98mins.

One point (apart from no ****ing trailer that I can see!) the amount of video artefacting is severe. I guess this is the material (very VERY grainy) partly to blame but I reckon there's digital video processing problems too resulting in panning problems within the film. It was there on the HDDVD too so I guess we have to live with it. The panning problem (which I've only seen as bad as this in the gad damn worst HD transfer ever -the USA release of the HDDVD of Tremors) must be noticed by other people I'd of thought. The true technical reason for this and a fix/correction? I dunno.

Great film and great Blu-ray [content].

Theres plenty or grain, I wouldn't have it any other way, I didn't really notice any problems with the picture. I think it looks as good as the source allows.

Here's some interesting bits from Landis himself:

So yes, he had the producers add grain to the image.

I live about a 45 minute drive away from where the exterior scenes for the 'Slaughtered Lamb' were filmed. Its a tiny tiny... tiny place. Its quite amazing how it actually looks in the film.

It was shoestring lol. I completely funded the doc myself and didn't even make cost back from Universal acquiring it. But, it was released. That was the point.

Glad you enjoyed it. Was a hell of an experience to make.

One of the best docs I have seen for a classic like this. Amazing work and thanks for adding so much more to the blu ray of one of my all time fav horror movies.

Thank you. Just glad people like it. I set out to make something that I'd like to see on a Blu-Ray or DVD.

I watched it recently and truth be told, I'd probably be a bit more ruthless with the scissors if I were to redo it. I've made two movies since so I've learned a lot more about filmmaking, editing and specifically pacing.

That said, it is what it is and it's your movie now as much as it is mine, so if you guys like it, I'm happy.

Could be something to do with the fact it's been out for 4 years ?
