You ever watch a movie and you are really getting into it and just like that it's over? (Without a clear explanation or closure) Or how about a movie that has you looking at your watch or actually falling asleep!?
Tell us about your experience while watching a movie that was too short or too long. I'm going to get some lip for this but when I saw the first "Lord of the Rings" at a movie theater I was working at (with a sold out showing) I actually feel asleep half way through! |

Most recently was Transformers, almost twice as long as it should be, 95 maybe 100 minutes is what it should have been, not 150! Star Trek was a bit short, and Wolverine, despite being barely 100 minutes, felt about 90 too long! I actually fell asleep through Wolverine. And Watchmen felt kinda short, despite it being almost 3 hours! Hopefully the extended Director's Cut might fix that. But as for classics, a few weeks ago, one of my local theatres did a Ghostbusters Double Bill and it felt as if it only ran the time of one film, never noticed how short those films are.

Resident Evil: Extinction was too short. I thought the movie was going along really well and then just......stopped.
Also the remake of The Fog. The way that ended so abruptly and without making sense made me wonder if they ran out of money and said "ok we're going to end the movie today." |

I thought Taken felt way too rushed. If they used another ten to twenty minutes the film could've been better than the standard action flick we got now. Easily done, since the theatrical version is only like 90 minutes.
The Return of the King wasn't even overlong in the extended edition. The multiple endings were completely necessary. And there was something odd about Jackson's King Kong. I think the film wasn't too long, as most people do. Some of the scenes were unnecessary, but the pace of the film was right. I think if the theatrical cut was 150 minutes long, and the extended/director's cut was 180 minutes it would've been much better. |

The first time I watched Casino Royale, I thought it was the end at multiple points in the film but it kept on going (which filled in the blanks). I'm not complaining because I love the movie, but there were times that I was thinking to myself, "Oh no, it can't end yet. There's gotta be more to the story." And there was. It's just that there were times that it started to slow down like it was about to end.

I forgot about Peter Jackson's King Kong. Way too long IMO. I've never bothered to buy this on blu and probably never will. I just can't bring myself to sit through it again. I bought the DVD when it came out (before I went blu) and have never even watched it.

More recent ones I rememeber
Too Short: Jumper (Studio tampering, split the original script into three but I doubt the sequels will see the light of day) Push (An entire sub-plot wasn't solved) No Country For Old Men (I wanted see the shoot-out at the end plus the movie just stops with very little explaination) Too Long: Transformers 2 (Easily could have cut about 15 minutes, would have paced it better) King Kong (I love the movie but can't deny it was a bit too long) Lord of the Rings (Personal opinion here but I felt that all three were far too long especially the first one, it took me three times just to see it because I kept falling asleep) |

Too short: Quantum of Solace
because it was non-stop ADHD action!action!action! it felt like it went by quickly, should have had 15-20 minutes of drama inserted to develop the plot, characters, or just time to breathe. Too long: A.I. that extra 30 minutes with the aliens made the movie 30 minutes too long, not to mention took the movie from a 7/10 to a 4/10 with great efficiency. movie shoulda quit when David's batteries quit. |
