Okay, so to start off, I have an Onkyo TX-SR705 and I bought it last May. Someday I might want to get myself a stand alone Blu-ray player, but for now I have the PS3. If I do get a stand alone one day, I'd rather use bitstream so I can finally see those logos come up on my receiver. There in lies the problem. Bitstreaming and the Onkyo x05 line don't mix too well with DTS-HD MA. So after researching and looking for the solution, I finally came upon the DSP updates last year. I tried updating the DSP's last year but had no luck. I had to turn my receiver off in the middle of it because it would not read an update. Nothing bad happened though like I had read in all of those warnings. My receiver still turned on and everything worked fine. Fast forward to tonight... I attempted to update the DSP's once again, but this time I set the CD output on my PS3 to 44.1 instead of 48kHz. Same thing happened. My receiver was not reading the update. So I figured, "Okay, it's my PS3 messing it up. I'll just try using my DVD player." I tried to cancel the update but my receiver wouldn't respond. I pressed the power button and nothing happened. After a little while it turned off by itself and now it won't come back on
![]() Is there anything I can do? Maybe sell it on eBay to someone who can fix it? Try and go through Onkyo since it is only one year old? I believe I registered it when I got it last year. Can I make up a story saying,"it somehow stopped working on it's own," or will they be able to tell that I'm at fault? Is it going to cost an arm and a leg to pay for the repair out of my own pocket? I just don't know what to do at this point. This receiver was the center of my HT and now it's dead. Any advice from you guys would be greatly appreciated. |
