Default TurboGrafx-16 Archives for PS3+PSP coming to North America

SCEJ Announcement (google translated)

TurboGrafx-16 (called PC Engine in Japan) games compatible with both PS3 and PSP just like PSone Classics.

Four games on the Japanese store right now:

Bomberman '94
Sengoku Mahjong
New Adventure Island (Takahashi Meijin no Shin Bouken Jima)
Devil's Crush (Devil Crash)

In addition to PsOne games, Japan has TurboGrafx-16 titles in their PlayStation Store. We confirmed with Hudson emulated TurboGrafx-16 games are coming to North America too.

No specific titles were confirmed, but I would bet on Bomberman, Bonk, and the “Crush” pinball games. Four games have been released in Japan so far: Bomberman ‘94, New Adventure Island, Sengoku Mahjong, and Devil’s Crush.

Each download is PlayStation 3 and PSP compatible so you can take Bomberman and (fingers crossed) Air Zonk on the go.

I sure hope that:

1). This makes it to NA.
2). The library is expanded.

I have a few games in my collection that I am afraid to touch as they may turn to dust, but I wouldn't mind playing them again!

It's a start, and a welcome one at that, but I still want to see more PS1 games, as well as Genesis, DC, Saturn, and of course PS2 games.

I wonder if the emulator was sneaked into a recent System Software update for both systems or if it's so small they include it with each game download. The four games so far are 7-8MB each.

Any recommendation of good TurboGrafx games apart from Bonk and Bomberman?

I like the AD&D game Order of the Griffon. From what I recall (which is minuscule), it was like the Eye of the Beholder games.

I used to LOVE Keith Courage in Alpha Zones. That's one I'd buy and play again for sure. That and Bravoman. Man, I'm all sorts of excited now thinking back to the good 'ol TGFX16 days.....

Sweet, I used to have a PC Engine, not the biggest library but some gems.

Blazing Lazers
some other cool shooters
All the crush games (though I think my favorite was SNES Jakt Crush)

I bought Blazing Lasers on my Wii's virtual console a while back. It's fun but not as cool as my 20-year-old memories had suggested.

Bonk, however, I do remember being a whole lot of fun (the original Bonk, at any rate... the sequels not so much).

SPLATTERHOUSE was the BOMB!!

Also, if you have a Linux install you can play all of the older games from an emulator. See thread here ----> https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ighlight=Linux

I'd be surised (if this is true) that we wouldn't see most of the TG16 titles. The collection isn't that big.

Ah, I remember when the TG16 came out and I bought one. Think I was the only person in our state with one.
