Just bought a Samsung P1600 and having issues with it - Blu-ray Forum

Today I bought a Samsung P1600 blu-ray player. I was going to get the Sony S360 and a Roku player but the store and the Samsung P1600 on sale for $199 and I decided that I would give it a chance at that price and not have to buy a Roku player because of the Netflix feature in the P1600. Well I'm having problems with Netflix on this player.

First problem I'm having is a lip sync issue in the Elephant Man movie through Instant Watch on this player. The audio is ahead of the video around based on what I see when the actors are talking. Doesn't happen on my PC.

Another issue is that whenever I start a new movies for the first time through Netflix on this player there is no video or audio but the movie continues to play as I see the timer progressing. I have to press stop and restart the movie. Also for some reason I lost sound in Netflix with this player but when I got home after work and tried again the sound came back in Netflix.

And the last problem I'm having with it is the aspect ratio in Netflix. I have the player set to 16:9 normal. I was playing the movie 187 through Netflix and the aspect ratio didn't set to wide screen and everything looked squished horizontally but when I got home from work and tried again it displayed the correct aspect ratio.

The easiest thing to do first is deactivate Netflix and then reactivate it on the 1600. Next to try and see if there is a firmware upgrade for the 1600.
Lastly, exchange it for another 1600.

Don't rule out the possibility of the lip sync issue lies with the file being streamed. I use a Tivo to stream Netflix and from what I recall, unless it has changed since then, Netflix has different streams for a given movie based on the quality of the stream and the device your using (e.g. Low-res, Med-res, High-res and PC, XBox 360, Tivo).

What is the speed of your Internet connection? Faster is better,.... and most problems I see with this issue occur at speeds under 3.0mbps. Netflix also has a place for streamers to rate their experience,...i.e.,... problems with the stream. Be sure to let them know if there is a problem with a particular movie.
