A couple years ago I had over 200 DVDs believe it or not but it was mainly TV Shows on DVD. I had to move and I sold most the DVDs off in a Suncoast in the mall and got some cash back. Used the money to pay off a credit card. Bad choice because I found myself wanting to rebuild my collection again.
Problem is -- I want to catch up on all the TV Shows I once had but I don't want to buy a complete series and find out after I bought it that it will be on blu. I have around 111 blu-ray movies I want to collect but I also have alot of TV Shows to collect. Which would be the best to concentrate on first. Buying Blu-ray movies or trying to complete all the shows I want on DVD/Blu-ray. I don't want to buy a show and find out later it will be on DVD. So I could concentrate on buying blu-ray movies to by time till maybe a show I have on my wishlist will get a blu-ray release. Which should I focus on first buying blu-ray movies or collecting the TV Shows I want on DVD? Check out my collection to see how long I have to go with my choices lol Paul |

I'd probably buy them from gold-box deal of the day sales at Amazon..... usually the DVDs go CHEAP depending on what you want.....
If the question is "Buy Curb your enthusiasm on DVD or Blu-ray" I'd probably say DVD..... 6 seasons for $100 on DVD, or $300 on Blu-ray.... (projected pricing ![]() I'm also getting sick of this "Inferior technology" nonsense... Of course Blu-ray is better, but every time someone asks about DVDs, smart-ass comments aren't necessary. OP.... I personally don't plan on replacing all of my TV series on DVD.... I have about 1,200 DVDs, and not too many are T.V. series.... but I doubt a Blu-ray release of the original Starsky and Hutch would cause me to want to watch them all through again.... and the way it is now, I like to watch an episode here and there..... Now... given a proper transfer, I'd buy a Twilight Zone collection (complete) if it's released on Blu-ray, but I'm pretty sure only a handful of episodes were shot on film. It's your money, but waiting will be both expensive, and a long process. |

Do what makes you happy.
Unless you miss every single one of the DVDs you sold, buy the ones in whatever format that you know for certain you can't live without. If you sold them to pay off a credit card, it might behoove you not to charge them again to a CC otherwise you've just absorbed a major financial loss (both in interest on the CC before it was paid off as well as interest built on what you charge going forward.) Chrging back everything you sold means you not only bought everything you already had twice but at greater cost. |

I buy most of the TV shows on DVD that were shot on videotape and older cartoon collections that are complete sets such as the Flintstones that I really don't care to have in HD quality. I am just happy the complete sets are out and uncut. Also check with tvshowsondvd.com to see Amazon's pricing. They add more everyday most over 45% off. That is how I build my collection.

I do not think you would gain much by getting old TV series' recorded on SD video cameras on blu-ray. The DVD is okay for them. Blu-ray will not add significant value since the original content is SD. The new TV content recorded on HD cameras better to get on blu-ray rather than DVD. I would go for blu-ray for movies both new and old.

I will not buy movies and new TV shows recorded on HD cameras on DVD. I feel like it is a waste because blu-ray is so much better (provided the transfer is good). There is no comparison. However, I will not upgrade the old TV shows which I have bought already on DVD.

I have had a collection pattern with my collecting. In October I buy nothing but Halloween themed scary movies and in December I buy the Christmas themed movies. The rest of the year I debate to buy blu-ray movies (around 158 in my Wishlist) and about 367 in TV Show Season Sets/Complete Series. For A while I have been only buying the TV Shows that are released in blu-ray but now I am caught up with that currently. Which should I focus on the blu-ray movies or the TV Shows I need to collect. (I know I got a long way to go.)
