Unhappy Audio Problem Panasonic DMP DB35ebk

Hello

I purchased one of the above blu ray players for my hubby for his birthday on Monday. Since purchasing we have watched three blu ray films and throughout all three the sound has been up and down for no apparent reason. I'm not technically minded, so if anyone knows why this is happening please help me in an untechnical manner )
I have connected the player via an HDMI lead to my HD telly. Picture excellent, sound just randomly reduces and goes back up again. If it's important we've watched - National Treasure 2, Bolt and Grand torrino.

Any ideas would be gratefully received as it does spoil the overall experience.

Thanks
Donna

Could you inform us as to what manufacturer and model # your receiver is? This may help before throwing any blind suggestions at you......

If your tv has a steady sound option, engage that and see if that helps.

Blu ray player is DMP - BD35 ebk

TV is 42" LCD TV - model TWF LCD 4201, we believe this is a phillips tv with a different badge, but can't be 100% certain.

Thanks

So you have no receiver? You are just running the BD35 staright to the TV?

If so, perhaps what blujacket suggested might work. I have to admit that with no receiver in the equation, I am not sure at all what it could be, sorry!

Actually, my guess is: you need to dis-engage this function ...that what the TV does when you turn this function on, same with the auto contrast feature ...

I'm not technical, but i'll try to answer queries

Yes i am running dvd player direct with TV no surround system etc. set up yet.

As for steady sound option - don't think i have that specifically. I have just gone into the sound options on my tv. Firstly it gives you the option to run it on Cinema, music, news, user or standard settings. I have tried changing this whilst film running and it has made no difference, sound still up and down. Drilling down the sound options in the menu - i currently have it set up with Cinema, Balance - 0, Speaker - On, Auto Vol Level - On, Auto Audio Mute - On. Is the Auto Vol Level the steady sound option - if that is the case then it is switched on. Or should this be off?

You should also go to set up (the Blu-ray player) and change the audio out to PCM 2 channels as well ... since you did not run this player to a receiver ...

I've altered auto vol setting on tv to now say off.

As for PCM 2 - i can't find that specifically in my sound menu on the settings of DVD player. In the sound menu i have: Dynamic Range Compresion - OFF, PCM Down Conversion - OFF, Downmix - STEREO - do these sound right?

I shall put another blu ray on in a little while and see if the sound is ok all the way through, fingers crossed it will now work okay. Thanks
