That hologram thingy is really funky. I wonder if it'll work as well as it looks here. I'm going to have to try it!

I wonder how (if) the holographic thing will work on standalone players ... I guess a PS3 with Eye Toy could work but how about other players?

That was really cool. Thanks for posting. I might finally be getting a blu-ray where I'll watch some of the extras.

I'm assuming that the 3rd disc is a DVD if it contains an XBOX360 Demo?

That holographic Enterprise looks both cool and silly at the same time.

Am I going to have to hold the damn case up for the duration of the experience? They made it sound like holding the case up to a webcam would unlock the feature, not be the main activity required to maintain the presentation of the feature.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens when I get it in my hands.

As for the person asking about standalones? I'm assuming that it is strictly going to be a PC oriented feature. I'm also guessing that it won't be a Blu-ray disc extra feature. It will, most likely, be included on a DVD format so that ANY PC will be able to access it and not just PCs with Blu-ray drives. With that being said, the PS3 might be the only option for anyone who doesn't own a Hi-Def PC to enjoy this extra feature on their big screen in all its glory.

Not to drift too terribly OT, but in lieu of starting a new thread: is there any difference between the Star Trek Original Motion Picture Collection [Blu-ray] and the individual movie releases on Blu-ray, other than packaging?

When the new Star Trek (JJ Abrams version) comes out, I want to pick up the original films and the TNG films, if possible, but there seems to be so many variations out on some of these.

The only other difference is that there's a bonus disc in the boxed set that you can't get with individual releases. Oh, and the odd-numbered movies aren't getting individual releases in Region A.

On DVD, yes, there are three variations. (The original bare-bones releases, the Special Collector's Editions, and the most recent releases that include all of the new special features from the Blu-rays but none of the SCE ones.)

On Blu-ray, though, you have your choice of buying the movies separately or buying them in TOS/TNG boxed sets. But you get the same discs either way.

Yeah, from the looks of it you have to hold the case up the whole time and control the Enterprise with the case. I really hope that's not how it's going to work.
