Default Should Blu-ray.com start community screenings?!

I would like bluray.com to start having community screenings for all the registered members here. I think it would be great to have scheduled days that bluray.com would be screening a movie. The technology is here people, lets put it to good use! Hell, we all payed for it! And if bluray.com does decided to schedule movies. what would you guys like to see first?

I don't think they can do what you want.

And if they could, it may not be legal. Or are you just going to ignore copyright laws?

its not illegal.....im talking about like the community screening zack snyder had for the watchmen. Movies with bdlive will let people connect to each other and watch the movie at the same time and be able to chat too!

Do you think people would enjoy talking to each other while watching a good quality movie. May be after the movie via a forum or something similar. Even a group of friends may not enjoy talking to each other while watching a "good" movie even in a home theater - that is my experience.

LOL, I still have to tell the kids to shut up sometimes while we are watching a movie. I really don't think I would like this. I am not sure I would even want to join an "official" community screening like the one with Zach Snyder.

I'm not sure how I feel about that. I mean, really. How often would there even be a screening. And thats not to say that some one, not tsaying anyone on here is dishonest or anythign thing . But who's not to say that when someone watches somthing doesn't records it at home and broacast it online illegaly. Understand where I'm comming from. I think for the compnay it would be to risky, but cool idea though.

Well, everyone would already have to have the movie in order to watch it together with everyone.

There were a few threads about where ppl here are from. If I were to meet a couple ppl from here living near me, I'd consider inviting them to my HT for a day.

That's exactly what I want; 30 people sending messages back & forth that pop up on the screen while I'm trying to watch the stupid movie... Sounds great!...

Yes but for that to work, you have to have purchased it. It cannot be broadcast to groups that have not bought it.

I think many people have misunderstood the OP's intent.

It seems that he is talking about using the functionality built into many BD-Live discs, using the studio's online servers. Essentially someone here would set up an online group so that people who already own (or have rented) the movie can watch it together and interact.

There are no copyrights issues involved. No movie would be "broadcast". Those who are not interested would not need to participate. I suspect that most participants would be people who have already watched the movie once or twice on their own before the screening. It seems like a neat idea (but, like most neat BD-Live ideas, I am not sure I would use it).

This is exactly what i was talking about! For people like me that would enjoy using this, I would love to get some screenings going. It would be a lot of fun in my opinion, especially with all the members of bluray.com

I'm not sure that I would participate, but it sounds like a great idea and I'm sure alot of people would enjoy it.

it would be fun to do it with the movies that have like trivia games built into the BD Live stuff. Who ever gets the highest score gets a virtual pat on the back. lol
