Nature's Journey - BD with 37Mbps VC-1 Encode and 96/24 DTS-HD Master Audio Lossless
Hi, We are just finishing up production on our latest HD-DVD and BD release entitled "Nature's Journey. As you may note, we listened to the members at AVS and incorporated a lot of what we learned from the folks here on the AVS Forum. We created individual Video and Audio encodes for the HD-DVD and BD formats. This was done to maximize the performance and potential of each specific format. This does not mean we are favor one format over the other. We are a very small but high quality producer of Audiophile, Videophile, and Home Theater Enthusiast programming. We always maximize performance wherever, whenever, and however we can. This is simply what we do. With that said, here are the specs for anyone that might be interested. __________________________________________________ __________ ___________________________ HD/BD-DVD Specification Sheet Nature’s Journey __________________________________________________ __________ ___________________________ Stock #: RBF-DV-10708 (DVD Version) Cat. #: 8-81991-10708-0 Price: $19.98 Stock #: RBF-HD-20708 (HD DVD Version) Cat. #: 8-81991-20708-7 Price: $29.98 Stock: RBF-BD-30708 (Blu-ray Disc Version) Cat. #: 8-81991-30708-4 Price: $29.98 __________________________________________________ __________ ___________________________ Warnings/Logos/Etc. - None Interactive Menus - Main Menu (seamless & uninterrupted content/menu interactivity) - Environmental/Season Loops Menu - Chapter Selections Menu - Extras Menu (Supplemental material) - Audio Setup Menu Feature Video - Total Runtime: Approximately 67 HD-DVD • VC-1 Encode at 26 Mbps / 1080i @ 29.97 Blu-ray DIsc • VC-1 Encode at 37 Mbps / 1080i @ 29.97 Feature Audio HD-DVD * DTS-HD High Resolution 5.0 ~ 96/24 @ 3 Mbps * Dolby Digital 5.0 ~ 48/24 @ 448 kbps * Dolby Surround 2.0 (Pro Logic II) ~ 48/16 @ 192 kbps Blu-ray Disc * DTS-HD Master Audio (Lossless) 5.0 ~ 96/24 @ 5.3 Mbps Average and 6.8 Mbps Max * Dolby Digital 5.0 ~ 48/24 @ 448 kbps * Dolby Surround 2.0 (Pro Logic II) ~ 48/16 @ 192 kbps Audio Commentary - None Subtitles - None Extras (Supplemental Material) - Illuminated Manuscripts Trailer - Ritual Path Trailer - Production Credits __________________ Richard J. Very nice man, I applaud you for taking the time to do a custom encode for the Blu-ray version.

Wow, thank you all. I am so used to hate posts from the AVS Forum I was unprepared for so many positive and receptive comments. I am not sure what to say.
![]() I can assure you I will continue to push the envelope on BD. I am looking at releasing some more IMAX Films in the future. I will be testing AVC and VC-1 for the Video Encodes used on these titles. I plan to handcraft and tweak the encodes for maximum performance. The content on Nature's Journey may not be the most compelling...but it sure looks good... ![]() ![]() |

Thanks, Richard! I'm glad you are pushing the envelope on your encodes. As long as you keep that up, you always have a guaranteed sale from me. I can't wait to experience this BD candy you have made for us! Try not to rot my Blu teeth 'cause I'll keep eatin'.

You mentioned an Ultimate HD disc on AVS. Is that seriously in the pipeline? Gary |

+1 to just about everything everyone has posted here--thanks, Richard, for a job well done, and especially for wringing the best out of the media.
I saw in one of your posts on AVM$ that for (understandable) budgetary reasons your company will be exclusive to one HD media for future releases. Given by the reaction of everyone here, my guess is that Blu-ray will be your medium of choice in future. Do I get a lollipop? :-) |

Fortunately, overall disc sales seem to indicate that the vocal portion of the AVS community isn't a very accurate indicator of the majority concensus of high def adopters. AVS seems something of a safe haven where HD DVD supporters have congregated, frequently resorting to an almost mob-like mentality in their resistence to accepting or even hearing about the formats technological limitations or shortcomings in application that often result. We've covered both formats since launch and have had plenty of praise for HD DVD. But I feel that I can confidently say that BD is unquestionably the more capable/future proof technology. The specs for Nature's Journey may just illustrate that too clearly for some.
AVS also appears to have been targeted by Microsoft/the HD DVD promotion group in their online campaign disproportionately to most other boards. But, I think you'll find people here are a little more appreciative and interested in becoming better versed about the capabilities of BD. |
