Just saw the official Family Guy Facebook page updated with the news that the new "Something Something Something Dark Side" 1-hour Star Wars special (the second such special done by McFarlane and Crew) will be available exclusively on Blu-ray and DVD on 12/22.

^^ Hilarious.
I liked the Blue harvest, probably the only good thing to come out of Family Guy in a few years. Maybe this will live up to the first one. |

I got out of buying Family guy DVD's, it always pissed me off that FOX refused to putout season sets..i despise shows that go the "volume" route (unless of course it's a case with a show like Batman the animated series, where some seasons where almost triple the amount of episodes another season was)
I definetly want to see this, Blu Harvest was the highlight of last season, but i don't think i'm gonna be picking this up Also, i wonder when FG is going widescreen, i belive its the last of FOX's animation block to still be 1.33:1 |

I good buddy of mine who I grew up with moved out to California several years ago, and for the past couple/few years he has worked on American Dad (I believe he is currently in the post production department on the show... at least last I had heard). American Dad has been in Widescreen/Hi-Def for most, if not all of it's entire run. From what I understand, while he is involved with both shows, Seth McFarlane has much more direct control over Family Guy than American Dad. And I guess he has some issues with actually transitioning from the 'traditional' TV aspect ratio over to 16:9 from what my friend has told me. Honestly, if this new Star Wars thing isn't 16:9 and if it's not mastered to be Hi-Def, I don't really see the point in getting it on Blu-Ray. Though at the same time, I'm going to take that special with a grain of salt anyway. While some of the jokes were funny here and there, I really don't get what the big deal was over the Blue Harvest special that they did. For the most part, it was really just an edited-down-for-time, animated remake of A New Hope. It really didn't do enough IMO to really take the subject matter and adapt it into it's own thing. |
