I hope this hasn't been covered before, but did not find this subject elsewhere. I thought it would be interesting to post what you consider to be a truely exceptional acting sequence in a movie. I mean a momemt when you truly believed/could feel the acting - anger, happiness, sadness, fear, revenge, love, etc. whatever the actor/sequence conveyed to perfection in your opinion. I don't just mean best movie moments, but instead the best acting moments. Here's a few which stand out to me:
- Russell Crow in Gladiator - when he finally finds his wife and son. The no holding back emotions with snots and all was just fantastic. - Hugh Jackman/The Fountain - when he returns home after his wife dies and sits on his bed all alone. I could almost feel his pain. - Paul Giamatti/John Adams - When he meets King George. I could feel the awkwardness he felt. You could see him quivering and barely able to talk because of how nervous he was and becuase he was truley out of his element. Just genius IMHO. - Tom Hanks/Philadelphia - After he was fired and Denzel refused his case and he is standing in the door way trying to figure out what to do next. The tears, his look of utter dispair just hits me. - Will Smith/The Pursuit of Happiness - When he get's the job! I felt I got the job. - Will Smith/I am Legend - The dog seen - you know the one. - Brad Pitt/Legends of the Fall - When his brother dies. There are so many I will stop there and see what you guys come back with! Thanks for participating! Last edited by vega2K; 08-17-2009 at 09:05 PM. |

Joe Pesci/GoodFellas - The scene when he shoots/kills the guy who forgot to get him a drink... It felt like I was watching a horror movie with his character as the villian after watching that scene.

Yeah, that's a good one. I had nightmares about that. Forget Freddy Kruger, this guy was the devil after that scene.

What about Charlie Sheen in Platoon - (1) when he is on watch and the insects are biting him and he peeks through the openning on his hood and sees the silhouettes of the enemys. (2) When he has had enough in the fox hole and the enemies are approaching and just gives in to his fear and anger and runs out killing everyone he comes across.

My #1 by a mile:
Brando with Johnny Fontaine: Fontaine: "oh Godfather, I dont' know what to do! I don't know what to do!" (crying) Brando: YOU CAN ACT LIKE A MAN! (SLAP) WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU? then later Brando: (fake crying) OH! WHAT CAN I DO? WHAT CAN I DO? and Brando: I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse. |

In Superman: The Movie when Superman leaves Lois after their romantic flight, Clark knocks on the door and Lois is dazed and ignores Clark and as Clark stands there, nearly about to tell her that he is Superman, Reeve literally changes characters right in front of your eyes and makes it totally believable, solidifying the illusion of Clark Kent as a mild mannered reporter in disguise for Superman.

Will Smith/I Am Legend - That scene.
![]() Heath Leger & Christian Bale/The Dark Knight - The interrogation scene for both. Any scene for just Ledger. Russell Crowe/3:10 to Yuma - When [Show spoiler] I could think of a lot more probably, but those were the first ones that came to my mind. |

I love and hate threads like these, there are just too many things that come to mind, you always read what others have to say and smack yourself for not thinking of them too. Well here's a quick couple that jump to mind, since I'm still at work.
- Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting: All of the scenes in his office. - Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon: When he jumps off the building with the guy threatening to kill himself |
