Seems like they're going to just do miniseries of all the potential heirs.

And then the real Batman is going to come back because no one is fit for his cape and cowl. I give it a year or two at most.

really?! wow! you're missing out then. the best stories ever written comics happened after 1984. in fact it was 1985 and up where comics became great. you have really missed out on the best stories ever written. in comic books or any other medium.

Didn't they make catwoman a lesbian too?

Seriously, unless batwoman & catwoman are having a shower scene every other page I highly doubt the book will retain anything but a very minor niche audience.

+1 Amen my friend the 80's were the prime of comic books. At this point in time, they do not exist in my opinion.

It's a summer-replacement storyline...

DC...okay: So you got burp-at-the-table notice when we all thought the Death of Superman storyline thing was going to be permanent, because nobody in the mainstream reads DC comics...Thank you.
Could we please STOP alerting the media every time you do another temporary four-month summer canon-shakeup story?--We've got mainstream people out there who think Batman's still in a wheelchair and Superman's still Lightning-Man.

Well, on the other hand, Marvel did permanently replace Captain America, sort of. I think the only possibly qualified candidate for Batman, though, would be Nightwing, since he's the original Robin. He says he's not interested in being Bats, but I can see him taking it up temporarily when he recognizes that the world needs Batman.

But, really, only Bruce Wayne is qualified to be Batman. And since he isn't actually dead, he'll be back.

Really, I don't think the issue is her sexuality. I think what's bothering most fans is that her character is such a huge departure from what Batman was.

Yeah, how dare that everyone be represented in comics!

And that article is idiotic. And just there for shock value. This Batwoman has been around for a while. She wasn't just suddenly created to replace Batman now that he's dead. Even though he's not really dead. She's just playing a part in the "Battle for the Cowl" that's the main Batman storyline this summer.

How? It's someone who goes around fighting crime dressed as a bat.

Outside of the fact it's woman who's gay, where's the huge departure?

Hell. Her day to day persona is that of a wealthy socialite even for cripes sake.

Perhaps, but those similarities are relatively subtle compared to the superficial stuff. First, Batman is a man—and a burly one at that. I know this shouldn't matter to people, but it does. Then there are other differences, like Bats being smarter than everyone else, and things like that.

Batman is a man who runs around in spandex with a young boy.

Can't really get gayer than that.

Again, where are these huge differences that have nothing to do sex.
