great price for one of the top end blu-ray players on the market. i spent $500 on my original 80 two years ago and it works perfectly till today. very happy with my purchase. (althou who knows what kinda original components they've taken out/ replaced with cheaper ones) to give ppl this new low price

Nice!

But I wonder if the new "slim" model will be the same price... (and most of all will it blend...) I mean will it be better... (less heat, noise)

ya definitely good but I guess with the new slim models coming out they have to do something. I'm hoping by Christmas they'll be even cheaper because I should hopefully have my basement finished by then and my new home theater ready and I could use another blu ray player/game system so that I can keep my other PS3 upstairs.

this christmas i wouldnt be surprised to see some lower end blu-ray players hit the $99 price point on boxing day. i believe the slim will be the same price (if amazon.com is any indication) but we'll see.

p.s - have to say thou i am very interested to see if the new slim will run cooler etc (be an upgrade over the reg ones) only time will tell

Edit: I cancelled my pre-order (got a little bit over excited over this)... I need to focus on getting room treatment first!

lol... but i think that kind of test information of reliability etc can only come with prolonged usage. i doubt you'll be able to tell right away in 1-2 weeks. kinda like the 360.. its defects only became widely known about a year after the initial release

Well I meant about the noise and all. I would like to think that a newer version of the hardware would be as reliable as the initial one.

Hope everyone notices that the new 120 GB is also priced at $299.

i actually think its kinda cool. dont mind the lack of glossyness, althou apparently its not backwards compatible. and their discontinuing the 80 n 160 gigs and just making this the only available standard one.

I thought it is kinda nice, compared to the finger print tracking surface now.

Not to mention my 40G has been making louder fan noises, so the price cut is definitely welcomed.

Was at Richmond Hill (Major mac & Bayview) Walmart just now, and saw the 160 GB PS3 selling for 399. It comes with Drake's Fortune, and also Infamous and Kill Zone 2 taped to it.
