Default Help: PS3 won't work via Component Cables

Guys i have a Sony component cable for PS3 i go into video settings on PS3 to switch to Component from HDMI, PS3 won't let me do it. It works on HDMI but won't work via component. Is there some step i am am missing? for some reason my PS3 is not overriding the HDMI. Any help would really be appreciated.

Power off the ps3 and unhook the hdmi cable.. When you power it back on, hold down the power putton. This should set the display settings to default.

I'll second this. Even though you are manually selecting the component cables perhaps the PS3 still sees the HDMI and wants to stick with that cable.

... then again maybe you are losing your mind and you don't have your TV on the correct input (i.e. multiple component inputs?)

You need to have the hdmi cable hooked up if you are gonna switch the connection. This is so you can see what you are doing. after you switch the connection manually, change you tv to the correct input (component) it should be done after that. so step by step:

1. Turn on PS3 with hdmi hooked up and the tv on hd input.
2. Manually switch the video connection through the PS3 menu to component. (Make sure the component cables are hooked up already)
3. Change the tv to component input and that should be it.

If that doesnt work, i dont know what will.
Good Luck

Mike thank's for your step by step it was so easy changing from Component to HDMI but for some reason my PS3 didn't want to change vice/versa. I will try what both you and tjara03 tell me when i go home. I know this is not rocket science...i just hope my PS3 is not developing mind of it's own.
