USA Blu-Ray audio (vocal) problems

So I have had my Sony S550 for about a year and I have been asking anyone I can think of and no one seems to have an answer. So here goes, when I put in a blu-ray I have to turn the volume way up (sometimes 3/4 of the way up) to hear what they are saying but then whenever something else happens (thats not vocal) it is so loud I have to turn it all the way down. what would cause this??

I have the S550 connected with a gold lined Rocket Fish HDMI cable to my Sony Bravia TV. The tv and player were both bought at the same time! Any help with this would be great

assuming that our Player's and TV's are pretty close to each other I would say that you are using TruSurround XT and i think the answer would have to equalize your treble and bass to make it easy enough to hear vocals but loud enough to hear everything else. I put mine at Treble 4 and Bass 6 and it works out really good

Depending on the movie, you may be able to figure out which speaker(s) the dialogue is coming out of and increase those speakers' levels by a few.

Try to find and turn on the Dynamic Range Compression (DRC) function on your blu-ray player.

I forgot to add you'll need to set your player to PCM (internal decoding) in order to use the DRC function.
