Default Older movies re-released on big screen

With the Wizard of Oz coming to the big screen in Sept. and with the re-release events of Bladerunner and War Games.

I wonder if we can look forward to more of these. I certainly think these engagements do pretty good.

I for one have never seen Alien or Aliens on the big screen and would just love to see them. Hopefully with the release of these on Blu-ray we can see this get a re-release theater event like Bladerunner did.

What movies would you like to see on the big screen again?

Find a small independent cinema that does this. There are a few in the UK. Prince Charles theatre in London plays only old films. Saw the first three Alien films there before walking down the road to see Alien 4. Most cities will have a place like this that does showings of older films. Got to sit through the first 6 ST films before seeing Generations. That was a long day.

Would like to see more Bogart/Bacall films.

I saw Disney's Beauty and The Beast in IMAX.

There was also a smaller theater near me that used to screen older cinema. It has closed down but it was nice.

My mall movie theatre has already been showing some older movies like Pulp Fiction, original Terminator, and a whole bunch of other movies that should of been long gone

In Chicago, there is a theater that used to do this and sell Beer. Not sure if its around anymore, but its was called the "Brew and View".

I would really though like to see this on a nice theater with big screen and sound, not sure if the independent theaters would offer that experience. I think an Alien anniversary is coming up if I am not mistaken.

Luckily, here in the city there are a LOT of places that screen older films.

Coming up...new 35mm prints of Spaceballs and Ghostbusters.

They do this all the time at the Arclight and New Beverly in LA. It's nice to have theaters like that.

Here in KC we used to have an old, pretty large theater that ran nothing but classic movies. I saw Apocalypse Now, Casablanca and...one other. Unfortunately, their selections often features cult movies that I'm just not that in to. Moot point since it closed down a few years ago. Now the only options for classic movies is Friday nights during the summer and a local art house theater. Unfortunately, the Friday night events seem to be nothing more than a place for parents to let their little kids run wild while they watch a movie and the art house shows mainly musicals and somewhat obscure foreign movies, although they screened the Godfather trilogy recently..

Not sure if there's any in the city still, but the 'burbs have "Hollywood Boulevard" in Woodridge, with a new one opening in Naperville next month. Full bar and food menu, and they do a lot of special events... Weekly Saturday midnight shows of Rocky Horror, a Hitchcock festival in October, appearance by David Carradine for Kill Bill opening, and starting to play the Wizard of Oz Aug 28th including a meet and greet with some of the munchkins.

If you're anywhere near Chicago, I recommend checking it out. LINK

I wish this happened in Australia (especially if it happened in Melbourne), but alas it does not.

With an announced prequel to "The Thing", here is hoping we might see a re-release of "The Thing" to limited theaters to promote it.

Also curious, who knows what movies had limited engagements in several cities in the last 10-15 years?

I know that "WarGames" was even around a few large cities for a one day event in promotion of the direct to DVD remake or followup to "WarGames"

Literally saw both of these movies back to back a few months ago at the Egyptian Theater....stunning experience. The American Cinemateque in LA has done a great thing trying to bring older movies back to the big screen....this month I'm especially excited for 8 1/2, The Godfather, Raging Bull, Superman 1+2, and Once Upon A Time in America They need more of these theaters in the US (and for that matter, the world).

I think any good movie would be worthwhile seeing at the theater.

My top choices would probably be:

"LOTR"
"Star Wars"
"The Matrix"
"Raiders of the Lost Ark"
"Terminator 2"
"Akira"
"Kill Bill"
Any good Bond movie
Any good "Star Trek" movie
"Lawrence of Arabia"
