Question about DTS-HD decoding

I've got a Sony BDP-S350 player, and it doesn't decode DTS-HD. I've also got a HTIB Sony HT-SS2300, which doesn't decode DTS-HD. Both are connected via HDMI.

If I buy a new player that decodes and outputs DTS-HD, would the receiver be able to process the signal properly?

Basically, I'm wondering if I need to replace both the player and receiver, or if I can just replace the player, to get DTS-HD.

And if I only need to replace the player, what would be a good replacement? Looking to keep it around $300 or less.
