Default No DTS Decoding?

I fully admit I'm an idiot, but I really want to understand this.

I got my new Yamaha 7.1 receiver, and it supposedly decodes all the stuff that is on Blu-ray -- except from what I understand my PS3 doesn't (and that is the source). All seems to be hooked up properly, and even set properly, but when I play Hairspray (with 7.1 sound) it shows on the Sony screen it is only playing 5.1 Dolby Sound.

Is this just because I haven't updated the PS3? I know the latest patch plays DTS-HD but I don't think the audio on the Hairspray disc is DTS-HD, only DTS 7.1. Or is this ANY DTS?
