Hey everyone! My little brother watched his first blu-ray at my house and decided he needed one too. He needs an entry level player for under $175. He asked for my help and I have researched, but really don't know which he should get. I don't want him to get one and then have it mess up and die in 3 months.
I have a Samsung 1500, and would recommend that but it's out of reach $ wise. What do you think? |

I'd spend a little more and get a Panasonic BD-60, which is $195 on Amazon, or a Sony S360, which is $208. It's worth spending a little more and getting a quality player than saving $35 and getting a Sylvania or Philips player. I've got last year's models from Panasonic and Sony and they are both very good. If he is willing to wait a couple months there will likely be some good sales during the holiday season.

I just bought the Sony S360 for $172... There's a store on ebay selling them for $195 shipped and you get an extra 10% with Bing cashback... I was torn between this one and the Panasonic 60 but I've read a lot of people having trouble with skipping on the 60 so I passed on it...
