Default Best blu-ray player under $175?

Hey everyone! My little brother watched his first blu-ray at my house and decided he needed one too. He needs an entry level player for under $175. He asked for my help and I have researched, but really don't know which he should get. I don't want him to get one and then have it mess up and die in 3 months.

I have a Samsung 1500, and would recommend that but it's out of reach $ wise.

What do you think?

I'd spend a little more and get a Panasonic BD-60, which is $195 on Amazon, or a Sony S360, which is $208. It's worth spending a little more and getting a quality player than saving $35 and getting a Sylvania or Philips player. I've got last year's models from Panasonic and Sony and they are both very good. If he is willing to wait a couple months there will likely be some good sales during the holiday season.

His dvd player just died, so he wants to upgrade to blu's now instead of throwing money at those good ol' dvd players. Thanks for the heads up on those two models though! I'll run it by him.

If he doesn't care about Ethernet access(profile 2.0), he can pick up the Profile 1.1 Magnavox 530MGX for around $98 at Walmart.

I just bought the Sony S360 for $172... There's a store on ebay selling them for $195 shipped and you get an extra 10% with Bing cashback... I was torn between this one and the Panasonic 60 but I've read a lot of people having trouble with skipping on the 60 so I passed on it...
