Default Awesome Blu-Ray article

There are times when an article is -so- wrong, it just becomes a riot.
This is this kind of article.

I don't know if they made a mistake in pulling out a 2 year old article or something (it did show up in the "news" search I did on google, and the date appears to be today).
But even if it was an old article pulled out by mistake ... it's still way funny.
All this being said, she does get to the correct conclusion at the end

Is Blue Ray really better than a DVD?

Did you ever wonder what's the difference between a regular DVD and Blue Ray? I know I have. It's hard to figure out if there's really an improvement in all this or is it just alot of hype? So I did some digging around.

DVD movies first came out in the 1990's and soon took over. DVD's have been the standard ever since. Each DVD can store 4.7 Gb but people started demanding HD capable which provides alot more storage needed just for the HD. So the leading electronic companies like Samsung, Sharp and Sony, and others, began working on another movie format that could hold HD. And thus, Blue Ray was created. Now you're considered behind the technology if you don't use HD and if you don't use Blue Ray.

DVD is short for digital versatile/ video disc format. DVD players use a red laser to read data but Blue Ray players use a blue/violet laser and hence the name Blue Ray. The blue/violet wavelength is shorter and that means that Blue Ray can store more data than DVD's can in the same amount of space. I'm actually understanding this better myself by writing this. So Blue Ray can store 50 Gb of data while DVD's can store 4.7 Gb. And that's why when you go to buy a video player now, the Blue Ray players cost more than the DVD players.

As a member of the ordinary people segment in society, I often thought this would all pass and they'd come up with even something else. And it seems even the big movie companies have one foot over the line and the other foot on the other side, if you get my drift.

Disney and Universal are said to be split. Warner Brothers and Paramount are supporting both formats now Warner Brothers is supposed to be Blue Ray exclusive. And Paramount is HD-DVD exclusive.

Blue Ray discs are becoming more widespread. All of Sony's PS3's play Blue Ray movies, has built-in support and this means that millions of consumers are using their video consoles to watch Blue Ray movies. Microsoft's X-Box 360 has had an available HD-DVD available experience. But if I were buying a new DVD player at this stage of the game, it's probably prudent to go with Blue Ray.

the constant "blue-ray" got on my nerves while reading that article.

seems to be pulled from something from a couple years ago, why even bother mentioning HD-DVD in a "current" article???

I agree, why would they need to bring up HD-DVD at all?

Could anyone even make sense of that phrase ?

Seems she was implying that Universal and Disney were releasing on both formats, that Paramount was both dual format -and- exclusive (at the same time).
She also mentions Warner going Blu (in a syntax that makes little sense), which would date this article around Jan. 2008...

But it's dated as of August 26th (2007? 2008? 2009?) ...

How can someone take that article seriously? It really tells you something about the reviewer...She has no idea what she's talking about.

I read the word "alot" in her opening, then stopped reading. Seriously. No one with any journalistic credibility uses that word. This must be some amateur article with no editor or real publishing.

God, I hate the internet sometimes.

Aside from the various grammatical errors, this is the most poorly written article on blu-ray i've ever read. I'm pretty sure she was under the influence of some illegal narcotic when she wrote this lame article.

WTH!?

DVD9 or dual layer has been the standard for movie releases for yrs. You can't fit a 2 hr movie and bonus features on 4.7gb's, unless you cut the bitrate down to something that gives it a VHS quality look!

What an assclown.

The article is pathetic.
Sounds like the writer heard a rumor of a rumor from a complete idiot. Maybe it is some joke and she tried to write the worst article she could?
