Is that real?!

Aladdin
The Little Mermaid
Beauty and the Beast
Monsters Inc.
Finding Nemo
The Lion King

My goodness, that's a list that would absolutely destroy HD DVD if it were announced.

Disney has a LOT of market pull. Family movies often out sell some the big hyped titles. Don't care much about the traditional animations, but I am a big fan of the computer gen movies.

I am sure they will probably release one at a time, BUT, does anyone remember when Disney first started releasing DVDs? As I remember, they did four of their classic animated movies at once. I think they did this a couple times.

I paused it to see if it said "soon" (since somebody elsewhere said that Disney said The Lion King was coming soon), but I didn't see the word "soon" in there. Just that these are coming to Blu-ray.

Ironically, back when that ad first ran (on the Cars DVD), the only one of those that wasn't actively being considered was...."Sleeping Beauty".

(They just wanted to show characters saying "Blue"...Get it?
The fact that we have SB showing up on Blu in time for its Platinum cycle may actually have something to do with truth in advertising--Given that we're not the first fans who ever asked...)

You'll notice that the only ones first announced were either the remaining Pixar CGI (always has to be the 3-D stuff, to show off), or the movies that were already re-hi-defined for their bigscreen IMAX reissues (B&B, Lion King, Aladdin)--
Assumably, that's because those were the only ones which could be "ready" for hi-def by the time they learned how to remaster their older restored titles. They seem to have figured it out by now.

Oh, those "Limited Editions"...Remember returning your copy of Pinocchio as "defective" because you couldn't find the "Character artwork on disk"? (Some returned them anyway, just to be sarcastic about it.)
Bad example to judge by, but the early history of Disney on DVD is almost a microcosm of the Entire History of Early DVD.

It will be hard for the HD DVD PRG to counter that as it rolls through the malls just before christmas. What gets lost in "i'm not double dipping" is the loads of first time parents who don't own these films yet. I own a whole bunch of these and I was salivating.

Yeaa!!! First Post.

Default latching onto this thread like a swollen tick.

I didn't want to start a new thread and this one seemed to fit, or was close enough, to what I wanted to say.

did anyone see the disney blu ray tv ad during ''the office'' (i think). it was so nice.

''coming soon to DISNEY BLU-RAY, ratatoille, cars, and potc at world's end. with the clearest picture and sound, the most advanced games, and yada yada yada''. it wasn't a long ad. but it got the point across. my wife was at me because I may have become a little excited.

That is nice to read. I watch a lot of Cartoon Network and Boomerang with my four year old son, and Sony has been promoting Surf's up very frequently. Both the DVD and Blu-ray cover versions are displayed in the ad. At the end the announcer informs "available Oct 9 in DVD and Blu-ray High Def! I know about "the wife" syndrome. My wife keep watching shows on standard definition instead of HD.

I thoroughly enjoy all my Disney Blus (Invincible, the Pirates Series, Chicken Little, Bridge to Terabithia) and I absolutely cannot wait until they start busting out the big guns. I missed a few key titles when they released the platinum line on DVD but i will guarentee I will not miss this round!!
