I saw the one review DID NOT like it to much, has anybody seen this other than the reviewer? I got a $10 off code (1000 points) from the Sony Blu-ray Club for it! Plus I have over 1200 points on top of that! It has Billy Bob Thornton,Mickey Rourke,Kim Basinger,Wynona Ryder and great supporting cast (including the late Brad Renfro's final role)as well. The coupon code by the way is: INFORMERS

I saw this in theatres, but I'm not sure how to answer really. I saw a lot of people complaining about the acting, but these are Brett Easton Ellis characters after all, they're lifeless by nature. It's based on a collection of short stories, with some interweaving, but not much of a central plot. I think it paints a portrait of the time and lifestyle well, but I wouldn't expect anything as cohesive as American Psycho or Less Than Zero.
Hope that helps |

This was the worst adaptation I've seen of his books. The movie goes nowhere. Amber Heard is fully nude in several scenes. Her body is quite the sight. However, the movie is just bad.
I got a chance to see a promotional copy and it wasn't even worth my time. |

I saw this at the movies and I love RULES of ATTRACTION and INFORMERS is just really bad... it was cool seeing WINONA RYDER again.. but the film is a complete bore. It has one funny line near the start of the film. and we sat in the theatre watching it all 4 of us thinking at the same time we can leave anytime lol
we all agreed it was a waste. My best friend she loves AMERICAN PSYCHO etc and said she will never watch this movie again. RENT first I can't stress it enough. |

As for the movie, I'd skip it. Weird movie, not very good, pretty boring. There is a ton of nudity featuring Amber Heard but that is the only redeeming feature. I'd recommend renting it. |

The movie is horrible. Amber Heard looks great. I have heard there was an alternate ending. It would have been great to see that as this ending is ridiculous.

Listen it's a matter of opinion. First I love Bret Easton Ellis and all of his books save Lunar Park for some reason - Sorry! But I hated the movies 'Less than Zero' with Andrew McCarthy (Old movie 'Mannequin') - Jamie Gertz - Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man Franchise, Sherlock Holmes Franchise) & 'The Rules of Attraction' with Dawson's Creek's = James Van Der Beek, Ian Somerholder (Vampire Dairies), Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns), Jessica Biel (Valentine's Day), and Shannyn Sossamon as Lauren Hynde the 3rd wheel to Paul and Sean.
The movies and actors just did NOT capture the books for me. Sorry guys. However, American Psycho with Christian Bale did work and it captured the book perfectly. Christian embody Patrick to a point it was almost alarming. And with 'The Informers' the stories tied together nicely. They took Jamie out of the movie and put Bruce in his place to make it more realistic and save time I believe. But Brandon Routh would've played Bruce had he been a 'vampire'. Though technically 'Dirk' made an appearance he was a 'vampire' in the book. But whatever. And they way Graham and Martin were so calm and like 'who gives a f***?' was how they were in the book. There was not a big plotline in the book 'The Informers' was just short stories about how hedonistic the kids like Graham and Tim and Martin were. I mean Graham's mom and dad narrated one each I think and his sister did one. Christie did not.... But I believe Julian was how Graham got the tickets in the book. (Julian from Less Than Zero). Les Price narrated a chapter, but Tim didn't. Jamie did, but he was a vampire and technically he was the one killed in a car crash. The movie was very faithful to the book. I give it. 4.5 stars. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
