Default A question to anyone in the IT/Computer field

maybe this will help me or maybe not but i guess this is probably the last option i have, and i hope to keep this short. I have been cursed with working with other temp agencies that end up going nowhere. Although i do have my bachelors degree in computer networking/IT field; for some reason i have always came up short on obtaining a permanent position so that i may finally claim financial independence, etc. Hopefully someone in these forums might now someone or is someone that can help me out working with a nice company. I am a great people person and i am always up for sharing ideas. I am not being desperate in doing this, i am just trying to figure out if asking about some employment is actually feasible on these forums. Well i guess i needed to get that off my chest and if anyone needs a resume or anything like that please let me know, for i am more than happy to send it to you.

Sorry to hear. I was in IT but the corp. I was working for outsourced the job. The CEO was convicted and sent to jail for financial misconduct. I decided to change fields and went back to college.

Keep sending out the resume's. If it isn't working consider getting a company's help with drawing up a new one. Dress professionally with a tie and good looking shoes for your interviews. If you are short on money and can't get a suit going then consider the Salvation Army. Be confident during your interview. Join a trade group or attend their meetings if they allow you to attend. Keep networking like you are here.

I am out of the IT field so I can't help you out but stay positive and keep looking.

www.48days.com

Dan Miller is a colleague and very good at what he does. The program is terrific. You might realize that your career path is not what you SHOULD be doing!

Good luck!

Speaking of IT, my local clinic is looking for a new IT guy, and i'll be 16 in 3 weeks.

There's a good chance I'll get it too. 10$/hour isn't bad for a first job either.

Nope, that's not it.

Hint:
Is the TV show spelled "Loost" or "Lost"?

One means not tight, the other means it didn't win or can't be found.

of course it matters. im just saddened that this economy is so screwy because of mr. president and everyone else (meaning corporations) want to hire cheap-o temps that do their jobs for a while and then leave to never return. they dont want to hire you as a permanent employee since that makes them pay your temp agency even more money. i guess im the one getting screwed and every other temp out there. for example. i worked at panasonic for a month in the only service center left in the U.S which is in Elgin, illinois. We fixed everything and since i worked in the receiving dept i would always open up the boxes that came with defective units, so i was always like "oh cool a blu-ray player" . i didnt get many of those but still. The only other good thing was that i always passed by on multiple occasions the panasonic 103" tv aka THE BIG MUTHA. it was getting repaired for someone. and i always wondered what who bought that damn thing. although they did turn it one once and it had the cubs game on it . anyway. there was no dress code, u could wear anything you wanted. no one cared. they let me go for a stupid reason of "i was too chatty" bullshit. so now im very careful of where i go and who i talk to since me being "chatty" is a issue for a "high prized and valued company with its own dick so far up its ass it does'nt mind getting rid of actual good employees" so there is my own 2 cents on this. and now im going to go get some jager and have a lovely time playing ps3

p.s. oh yeah to answer your question above. any position is fine in the computer field like networking, software or hardware as long as its permanent.

Do you have your CCNA, MCSE, or CISSP certifications? If not, those are very important to have in order to really be considered. If you do have one of these certs, maybe your area just doesn't have a lot of job open in that field. In that case, you would need to be able to relocate. Monster.com, Hotjobs.com, and jobbankinfo.org has always been my friend. I hope this helps.

We can argue the politics of the war, immigration, crime and punishment all day, but the economy has been doing well for some time now. I've been employed with the same company for the better part of this administration and not so much during the last. The economy is what the economy is. Outsourcing stinks, so find a company that doesn't outsource if you can.

I started my current position with a major financial institution as a consultant. I was hired full time. Employers will pay agencies the fee to keep people they feel are valuable.

Nonsense. They always care. Dress for success, not like the other schlubs.

Speaks volumes. Attitude, professionalism, and personal presentation are just as important as technical proficiency.

From what I've read here, you come across as the type of person that wants to point fingers and not take responsibility for your own shortcomings. The company gave you a valuable lesson by telling you why they let you go. Learn and grow for it and develop a professional image that employers will respect and you will keep that full time job.
