looking for help on receiver back panel connections..

hi, anyone w/an older HK receiver will know what i'm talking about, but On the back of my AVR 80 there is a set of RCA plugs that run as pre-outs and main ins. in order to both connect an outboard DD processor (yes it's that old) and get power from the receiver's speaker terminals, one must connect the preouts to their corresponding main ins. back panel is arranged as:

pre out main
X X L.Front
X X R. Front
X X Center
X X R. Rear
X X L. Rear

As you can tell, if I were to use even the shortest commercially available RCA cables to do this connection, it would look like a bowl of spaghetti really quickly.
SO, I would like advice on 1 or 2 things:
1. the fronts (pre-to-main) are connected by a perfectly sized, two-prong U-shaped "clip" that makes a nice neat connection, but I can't for the life of me find extra ones for the other channels.
2. I'm not willing to spend all the extra time and expense of building my own RCA cables from scratch, so I'm considering buying some short RCA kits and removing some length from the middle, and splicing back together to make a much more manageable cable length.

Anyone done this before or have other suggestions?
