United Kingdom The Boat That Rocked

question, I just read that the US theatrical version has been reedited by some twenty minutes and retitled - I'm eyeing to buy the UK bluray edition but want to know if it's region free (or has it been region locked to 'B') ??

There's no region code mentioned on the cover.

I'm wondering the same, because I want to import the blu-ray as well. It's almost the same price as the DVD... Wish someone can confirm that it plays on a US PS3

Mine is on its way from amazon. Should have it by early next week, but my understanding is that it's coded "B".

Just popped in my copy to check. Region-free, including extras (which are HD)! Plays on my PS3 with no problem.

Great movie too! Watched it last night. If you're a Richard Curtis mark (I am) or old enough to have experienced the sixties, love sixties classic music, Bill Nighy, P.S. Hoffman, Rhys Ifans or Kenneth Branagh, you're going to love it. PQ is not demo material, but I think it was intended to create a dingy 60's look (similar to "The Bank Job"). AQ is super! Not to be released in U.S. theaters until November as "Pirate Radio", with most likely several Americanized alterations added.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I can go order it now I've been waiting for this film to be released in the US forever, but the release date kept getting pushed back.

This is fabulous news. Just a quick question, what's the best/average price you have found? Thanks!

The review of the disc says Count is played by James Seymour Hoffman. Pretty sure they mean Phillip

Hello,

The disc is most definitely Region-Free, and there is no reason why it should not play on your LG BD-390 player; there is no PAL or 1080/50i content preceding the main menu either.

Have you performed a firmware upgrade recently?

I always stay up to date with firmware updates but just for the hell of it, I rolled back my last update & now it plays flawlessly! Isn't technology a wonderful thing?

The review says Quentin is Carl's father.

He's not. One of the major plot lines is that he finds out who his father is
[Show spoiler]and it's not Quentin

Well worth bumping a 15 year old thread for that nugget.

But as we're here...

Absolute car crash of a movie with little or no narrative thread, full of horrible characters doing horrible things to each other with absolutely no consequences for any of them. It's a wretched piece of cinema & a waste of some decent actors.

Some good tunes on the soundtrack though.
