Default Will this external BD drive work with my PC.

Hello:

I have a nice Nvidia 9600GT video card in my PC & would like to watch Blu-Ray movies on my new 23" Sceptre flat screen LCD monitor with DVI input. My PC motherboard only has 2 SATA plugs which are both taken by the SATA hard drive & the SATA internal DVD burner. I would like to get a Sony Blu-Ray DVD-ROM which is on sale at the local computer store for $79.95 BUT it is SATA. I had the idea of mounting the BD drive into an external USB enclosure that accepts SATA drives. If I basically "Make" an external Blu-Ray drive out of an internal drive will it work playing thru the USB port??

P.S. - Can I watch 1080P on my 23" LCD monitor or will I only get 720P?

- Thanks -

Med

if your monitor and graphics supports it you can. some monitor go twice 1080p

but for the most part you would notice a huge improvement over 720p on screen that size.

as for your other question

I have used a USB to sata cable like the one below to power an sata hardrive when the external case broke and it worked fine. it says it works with optical drivers too via usb and mains suppy.

but you could always just added some more sata ports to your system. prob be the best option.
