external hard drive help - Blu-ray Forum

Hello all and thank you for looking at my thread. I just have few questions . I have a WD external hard drive with a load of movies and porn on it. Just wondering is there anyway i can get those movies and porn to play on my playstation 3 so i can view it on my lcd. If so how? I usually view them on my computer with wmp thanks

what format are the movies in? if theyre a format the ps3 plays, hook the hd up and you're good to go

more than likely they're divx or xvid, and more than likely they'll play. maybe not all of them. but most should. just plug it in and try

For starters i bet your external hard drive is NTFS , In which case ya fooked , simply because the PS3 wont recognize any thing other than a FAT32 drive, so you will have to format the drive first , non of ya movies can be on there which are over 4g in size.

As long as its USB and FAT32 I am good to go? I have an external Maxtor drive just collecting dust. It is formatted NTFS but it never got recognized by the PS3.

when i get home from work im going to give it a shot. If i do have some that dont play is there a program i can use to convert them to the format which can be used?

Two things

PS3 doesn't like porn !!
If you aren't smart enough to know what format your movies are in, they are probably horrid copies !

don't you also have to have the "proper" folder set up for the ps3 to recognize it?
