Default Stay 2.1 or go to 5.1?

Hey all, been busy moving into a new house the last while and haven't really been online much.

My Tannoy towers and Jamo subwoofer are currently in the "TV Room" at the new place and we are building an HT room in the basement with a 110" projection screen and the Klipsch 7.1 setup *listed in sig*

Basically I'm torn between keeping the Tannoy/Jamo system on my plasma 2.1 and getting the Emotiva 250w stereo power amp, or buying the Tannoy center and surrounds, buying my friend's used 805, and doing 5.1

The difference in price isnt too great, probably around $150-300 more for the 5.1 setup. I'm just not sure if another 5.1 system in the house is desirable for me... I love my speakers but there has to be some limit right?

Opinions anyone?

I would stay with a 2.1 system as you will have a dedicated HT setup anyway. This way you have the best of both worlds. If you do stay 2.1, then look into a seperate CD/SA-CD player and/or a Turntable to to really make your music sing!

I was looking at the Oppo Blu-ray player which i could use for SA-CD, but do you have any similar-quality suggestions for a CD player... $300-$600 MSRP?

If you wanna a sacd playback oppo blu-ray player is the best choice since it also has the one of best blu-ray player in the market.

As for 5.1 set up, well if price is right you should get it. Cause believe me when economy bounce everything include speaker will be jack up price.

I would keep the 2.1 also (actually, my preference would be to add the sub to the HT, and keep it a 2.0, but that's up to you)

I turn the sub off for music, but because I use the speaker/tv setup for gaming and some light movie watching I like having the sub in there.

does anyone have recommendations on something similar in price to the Emotiva power amp or is it the best in that range

You can pick up the Oppo DV-980H CD/DVD-A/SA-CD/DVD player for $169. I bought one a few months ago and I love it. Great little player!

If you plan to buy the Oppo BD player, you won't need the 980. I have both of them, but I already owned the 980 before I bought the BD player.
