Default Subs Stay On Now?

Hey guys, I need a little help please. I have a denon 3808CI and definitive technology BP7002's with a C/L/R 2500 center with bp2x surrounds. For those that don't know the BP7002's have built in 12" subs with their own built in 300 watt amps. I have not been running the LFE from the reciever until today. I plugged my y adapter in the sw jack on the back of the receiver and plugged a sub cable into each side then plugged them into the back of the BP7002's. It now sounds as if everything is quiter, and when I turn everything off the BP7002's amps don't turn off anymore. After 30 seconds of the system being off the subs start to make a rumble ever so slightly and I can feel them vibrating with my hand. I tried setting the speakers to both small and large and also set the sub to lfe+main. I am not really concerned about the volume being quieter, but don't want my subs vibrating all day every day. What should I do?

This is from the Manual.

Quote:
The BP7002/BP7004/BP7006 has a special circuit which automatically turns the powered subwoofer section on when a signal is fed to the loudspeaker and does not require an on-off switch. Please note that if you hear a pop from the speaker when the amp powers up, this is normal. The red LED on the back panel will light up when a signal is sensed and the amplifier turns on. Please note that after the cessation of a signal, it may take up to an hour for the amplifier to actually turn off. In some instances, because of RF presence in your area, the red LEDs may not turn off. However, this is nothing to be concerned about as the amplifiers draw almost no power when they are idling.
Most probably, the problem is caused by Radio Frequency (RF) interference. Make sure all your cables, particularly the LFE cables are RG6 shielded subwoofer cables. Also, separate all cables from each other. Read the Ground Hum & Ground Loop Isolator. You may have to plug the speakers into ground hum isolators.

If you try everything and the trouble doesn't go away. Connect the LFE cables to the Front Speakers' pre-outs on the back of your receiver. In the receiver's menu, set the front speakers to LARGE, all other speakers to SMALL with a crossover of 80Hz, and the subwoofer to NO. Adjust the level of bass on the back of the front speakers so that the bass sound blends well with the other speakers' output.

I bought 2 of these :
http://store.audioholics.com/product...ae72563ba0c896
and this :
http://store.audioholics.com/product...dapter-y-cable
I don't see anywhere the cables saying they are RG6 shielded. Maybe that is my problem? I made sure the cables were not touching the speaker wires or power cords for any of my equipment. I can leave them plugged into the receiver and leave one tower hooked up then tap the other end for the tower I unplugged and it will make the other tower thump. I am confused. Will using the front speaker preouts still give me .1? That is the only reason I got this as I was told on another thread I was missing .1 thanks for the replies guys!

The Velocity cables from Audioholics are good. There must be something else that is causing the problem. Take the power cables for the towers out of the Monster power conditioner and plug them directly into the wall outlet and see if that helps. You may still want to experiment with ground loop isolators, but that can cost you money.

With the pre-out connection, you will still get .1 channel. Who told you that you don't. I need to wack him on the head.

There are two types of information that go to the subwoofer:
  1. The LFE (.1) that is programmed by the sound engineers into the disc and usually go up to 120Hz. You have no control over this and you should always set the low pass filter of LFE to at least 120Hz in the receiver's menu.
  2. The second kind of information is the redirected bass from all the speakers that are set to SMALL. You have some control over this by changing the high pass crossover settings of the small speakers in the receiver.
When you set your front speakers to LARGE, your surround and center speakers to SMALL, and the subwoofer to NO, the receiver sends the LFE (.1) channel and the redirected bass from the small speakers to the front speakers. Nothing will go to the LFE output on the back of the receiver. As a result, all the bass, including .1, will come out of the two subwoofers built in within the front speakers. For more information on this, read A Guide to Bass Management.

Ok sounds like I am just going to use the front preouts then as I am not interested in spending more money at the moment, and would like to use what I have. Thanks for the help!

I use to have the same problem, and we have the same receiver, unfortunately for you i don't have an answer as to how it went away, it did all by itself. I would have to turn off/on my sub manually to avoid the sound coming out of my sub when my entire system would be off. Like Big Daddy mentioned, check the cables so that there is no cross inteferience. And I did have the sheilded sub cable when this was going on...

That's no good. My subs are built into my deftech towers. There is no switch to turn them off just a power cord for the built in amp and a gain.

That is a surprise. I have the older BP2000 from 1996. They have 15" built-in subwoofers with 300 watt amplifiers and have a switch to turn them off. You don't need to unplug them.

Ya that would be too easy!

If you have room on your main power strip, plug everything into it. if you have to, daisy chain the subwoofer power center into the HT power center. This is just as a test, I wouldn't run it that way. I get Ground hum in any configuration except when everything is plugged into the same power center. This might at least tell you if it is a ground hum or not.

Just for piece of mind unplug the cable from your DVR that goes to your wall. I had a similar issue that was caused by the cable outlet not being grounded.
