That's no good. My subs are built into my deftech towers. There is no switch to turn them off just a power cord for the built in amp and a gain.

That is a surprise. I have the older BP2000 from 1996. They have 15" built-in subwoofers with 300 watt amplifiers and have a switch to turn them off. You don't need to unplug them.

If you have room on your main power strip, plug everything into it. if you have to, daisy chain the subwoofer power center into the HT power center. This is just as a test, I wouldn't run it that way. I get Ground hum in any configuration except when everything is plugged into the same power center. This might at least tell you if it is a ground hum or not.

Just for piece of mind unplug the cable from your DVR that goes to your wall. I had a similar issue that was caused by the cable outlet not being grounded.
