Default Help with video output on PS3!

Hi all.

I bought a used PS3 which was setup on the previous owners TV for 1080p output on his 1080p TV set.

Now that I brought it home, it will not output any display on my 1080i TV.

Since I can't open any visual menu modes on my screen, how do I reset the PS3s video settings?

Thanks for any help.

I would hook it up with the composite cables. Then change the settings to 480i/p. Then hook up your hdmi or component cables.

It will not output anything using the yellow composite cable, or HDMI cable.

TV says "not supported mode" which I assume is 1080p output.

it was just a thought. Other than that, I have no idea. Maybe call Sony. Hah, I actually called them when I first bought my PS3. I did not realize at the time that you couldn't display a blu-ray in 720p. Every time I played it went to 480p so I called them. It was pretty funny. They tried telling me that the blu-ray I bought at circuit city was the wrong region code. They had to keep putting me on hold and finally transferred me to a specialist. While I was on hold I figured I would try changing my display to 1080i and it worked. They did not even know that. That's pretty sad that they couldn't help me with that.

you can try to put your finger on the power button on the console itself for about 5 - 7 secs and it will reset to the settings it had out of the box. Mine was set up on my 1080i TV and then I went to my mothers house for a week and used the PS3 on a standard tv, no picture at all. Then I read above mentioned reset in the online manual.

I had a similar incident myself. Try holding down the front power button until it clicks.
