Default Joel Schumachers Blood Creek

Lionsgate, as the famously did to Midnight Meat Train is releasing this movie directly to budget cinemas. Luckily for me, its playing about 20mins from my home. Im gonna have to check this out. However Im a little puzzled. IMDB doesnt list this movie as a Joel Schumacher film. I know it stars Domminic Purrcel from Prision Break, but the listing for Blood Creek has a bunch of no name actors and a plot thats nothing like the one listed in the news article.

Im gonna have to go and check this out sometime this week and see it for myself.

It's playing at the local dollar theater in town. Oddly, when I went on the IMDB, it only had a straight to video film from 2006.

Its actuall had a couple of names. Blood Creek, Town Creek, and then Creek. It looks like Town Creek is the IMDB listing. My theater has it showing as Blood Creek though.

This is payback to Joel for Batman and Robin.

Anything Joel Schumachers is worth the time and money in my opinion. Except that dreaded Batman Movie.

Emmy Rossum is in Mystic River?

I've heard Mystic River is supposed to be like Gone Baby Gone. Haven't seen it yet.

Don't get me wrong on this. I like Gone Baby Gone movie. But if you do see Mystic River then Gone Baby Gone is pure crap to compare it to.

The story was very well told, and very involving as well.

I definitely believe you will like it. Rent it on DVD, I don't think you will regret it.

I saw it today, I liked it. I am writing what the film is about, in case if anyone is interested. I am spoiling everything.

To sum up what the antagonist is; it's a
[Show spoiler]Supernaturally possessed, and most of all immortal, Nazi
.

[Show spoiler]The film starts out in B&W in the 1930's with a German family getting a letter from Germany from Hitler or one of his associates about a scholar coming to write a book on Germans who have emigrated and how they live abroad. So, this man arrives and he comes at the dead of night and scares the man of the house. They go inside and the man talks about his research and that he is actually there looking for Viking Tablets/Stones. We see the man go to the barn, as the man of the house tells him it is there; where the little girl of the house is crying because her bird has died. The man takes the bird and revives it. The man asks the girl if she would like her family to be saved from death.

We hear the girl screaming and we cut to present day with Evan, an EMT, who is trying to save a Methhead's life as his b***h shot him in the neck. He fails to save his life and then goes home to his dying father. His father annoys the hell out of him about his brother who went missing in Town Creek two years ago when he came home from Iraq. Evan then goes to his brother's house to pick up his kids to take them trick or treating. When Evan gets home and falls asleep, his brother, Victor magically shows up. Victor is looking like Otis from House of 1,000 Corpses/Devil's Rejects.

Victor tells Evan to grab his guns and all the ammo he has and that they need to leave and go to Town Creek as soon as possible. They off and they go and Victor shows Evan his scars, his back has been cut up over and over again and it's full of scars. We see the same house from the 1930's and oddly the family is still alive and they are still the same age, except for the girl, she's now an adult. Also, the house is covered in Viking charms to ward off something evil. So, Evan and Victor start shooting up the place and the eldest son is shot and killed. Victor sees a shipping container and we hear noises from it. Eventually the father shows back up and everyone is there, except for the Nazi.

Victor is yelling at the door to where the Nazi is and then we see a cellar door explode and this giant, nasty looking, rotting Nazi comes walking out of the barn. And from then on they take the Nazi for the rest of the film. It turns out that the Viking Stones could give you infinite power and open the mind's third eye, so on top of the Nazi's immortality, it would also make him invincible. The Nazi has one weakness, his own blood; to which we learn that there are bones of the Nazi's family in the barn. The Nazi has killed enough to have his third eye opened and finally Evan makes the decision to take the Nazi's family bones and break them to get the marrow out and place it over his wounds so the Nazi would be poisoned.

Finally it works and the Nazi is poisoned. Victor grabs barb wire and wraps it around the Nazi's neck and rips his head, but not completely, it's attached to the back of his neck. The people of the house age to their natural age and they all die. Victor and Evan are all that remain. Evan goes to the girl as she is dying and a list is revealed that Hitler had found that there was 9 of these stones in the US. As the film ends, Evan carves a Viking protection charm into his skin and drives off. Victor, however, goes back to the ruins and we see that he is different and see him smile and the film ends.

Was it cheesy in some aspects? Yes.

Was it enjoyable? Yes.

Would it be worth to pay full admission at a regular theater? No.

I liked it, if it's playing near you, I'd suggest you see it. If not, wait until it's released on Blu.

So OrlandoEastwood-
didn't read your spoilers...but would you recommend seeing this? Would you yourself see it twice?

It's playing out here for $2 but its about 30 min. away. So with gas, etc. it would add up to the same as a 1st run full price movie.

Depends, it's premise is a little cheesy but the action and horror elements are good. I think most who will probably see it and not like it is because it's different.

According to Dreadcentral, this is getting released on January 19, 2010. The scary bit is, they only mention DVD, nothing about a Blu-ray.

http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/342...ek-coming-home

Quote:
Acclaimed director Joel Schumacher (The Lost Boys, Tigerland) takes the reins of Blood Creek, a tense supernatural horror-thriller concerning two brothers who find themselves at the center of a terrifying occult experiment. In 1936, the Wollners, a German family living in Town Creek, West Virginia, are contacted by the Third Reich to host a visiting scholar. In need of money, they accept Professor Richard Wirth into their home, unaware of the Third Reich's practices in the occult and Wirth's real mission that will keep the family bound for decades to come. After 71 years, in 2007, Evan Marshall's life has stalled at 25 years old when he is left without answers after his older brother Victor's disappearance from a camping trip near Town Creek. When Victor returns one night, very much alive, and having escaped his captors, Evan asks no questions. At his brother's request, he loads their rifles, packs their boat and follows Victor back to Town Creek on a mission of revenge that will test them in every possible way. The DVD features audio commentary with director Joel Schumacher.

Default UK Blood Creek BD

This is one of my best blind buys. And the cheapest yet from the UK. I figured it may be worth a look once because it was cheap to add to an order of other discs. But it was all I did not expect it to be. Forget the Nazi theme. This is a Vampire movie with fresh ideas. Gory and creepy supernatural horror.
Excellent! Pick it up before it disappear's.
