Default What about scratches on the disc?

Will the inherent delicate size of the sectors on the disc require that we revert to using scsi holders to protect them from scratches? We all know that scratches on a DVD are so much more ridiculously harmful than on a regular CD. So with this tightening of area, will there be compensations to help avoid problems caused by scratches, such as a better parity scheme? Or will these discs be so delicate as to be ruined by a single scratch? One thing you cant fault regular CDs on, is much greater durability than a DVD. I personally own some that I've used as coasters, or walked on, and they refuse to deminish in performance, or become unreadable, which is rather nice. I'm hoping with all that space there will be better information preservation tecniques used.
