Default Heroes season 1 still worth watching?

Should I even bother watching Heroes season 1?

I keep hearing about how bad season 2 and 3 are, yet I remember most people really liking season 1, and ive wanted to see it myself for some time...

At least rent it. The first season was by far the best.

Yeah it's an excellent first season. The transfer is pretty good, not amazing.

Have not seen any season. What's so bad about the others?

Season one is awesome and one of the best seasons of television from the last decade. Ignore the urge to continue watching past that point. The second and third seasons are awful, with a significantly poorer story and execution. Virtually everyone agrees on these points...

Season 1 is one of the finest seasons of television you will find. It is really fantastic and better yet, you can really watch it without going on to the further seasons as it has a pretty good wrap up. There are unanswered questions. If you do want to move onto season 2 it is disappointing but not as horrible as some people make it, it was just hard for it to stand up to the terrific first season and it kinda seemed like they did not know where to go, something it seems that they have not yet figured out.

Basically not living up to the hype the first one produced. I remember when season 2 was coming out people talking if it was going to hit that sophmore slump that shows tend to do.

Yup, it was pretty much too good the first season. It also doesn't help it that its best writer Bryan Fuller, who wrote arguably the best episode Company Man, left for Pushing Daisies. He did return last season but the show killer Jeph Loeb had already done the damage. Cold Snap was written by Fuller and it was a better epsiode but was unfortunately mired by the ridiculous mythology set up by the weaker writers when he was not there. And of course he has left again. NBC should have really paid fuller a ton of money to be show runner, as they do have a show that has a following no matter how hard they try to kill it.

I think the fact that the writer's guild strike cut the second season in half really killed the show.

Maybe, but the episodes were all horrible before the writer's strike. They introduced a bunch of new characters who were all awful, particularly the twins. I don't think season 2 could have been redeemed even if the writer's strike never happened.

I thought season 3 was even worse, I quit watching with about 6 episodes left, although I ended up watching them when I was sick in bed one day. I think season 4 could be decent as they are trying to get back to their season 1 roots.

I'm obvious alone in loving volume three...far fetched but so fast moving with everyone swapping sides that it's hard to keep up...loved it

the new season has started out pretty strong, and has very few links to whats previously gone one (storywise) so if you dont want to 'waste time' with the weaker sesason, watch 1 then skip to 4 (vol 5)

I agree, the twins were pretty much uselss,, especially with one of them getting killed off a couple of episodes in.

You are not alone, I still love Heroes, one of my favorite show right now along with The Clone Wars.

Agreed. I might give season four a chance just for Robert Knepper.

Not only is season 1 the best TV you have seen in a LONG time - in my opinion it was the freshest storyline in entertainment...more importantnly - THE ONLY way to watch it is via DVD/Blu-Ray. My wife and I came into season one after it had been launched on DVD and we were SOOOO glad we didnt watch it during airing - one week apart is way too long to see what happens. They do such a good job of sucking you in and you can't wait to see what comes in the next episode. I agree with the previous poster who said - dont be tempted to watch 2 or 3 - you may want to watch episdoe 1 of season 2 but seriously if you watch anymore -= you will forget how good 1 was. It is strange how different they are...

Season 1 - MUST OWN.
