In France, two big satellite's broadcasting groups exists. The first one, Canal Sat exists since 1996 and has got the cinema and the Football rights. TPS exists since 1997, as many people pay to see football, they don't really have consumers... In the cinema branch, they only have Warner Bros exclusives and nothing else... So how can they survive now ? They found the way ! They'll be the first to introduce HD Broadcasting in France ! Their spec are 720p/1080i in MPEG-4 with 5.1 sound, that's all they say on their official webpage
