Default Center channel recommendation

So, after finding out that these weren't being used by anyone in the house, I decided to put them to use as the L/R channel speakers. My only problem now is that I have the center channel speaker seen in this picture.

So, for under $500, what center channel speaker would be the best for a room that is about 20' wide x 20' deep x 15' high?

I don't really have a preference about brands, but B&W and Paradigm are my favorites.

Thanks guys!

You could use an older Paradigm center and get the effect you want (maybe something like a Paradigm CC-290)

But remember your fronts won't timber match with the center

Whats the name brand of those speakers?

It looks as if your speakers uses horn tweeters.
If this is so then maybe looking for a center that uses roughly the same tweeters would help yor problem.

These might be up your alley

Good Luck my Friend

check out craigslist for other vintage Kenwoods, and if you can find a matching pair, just buy them, and use one for the center

Your best bet would be to track down a pair of the same models that you have. $500 or less shouldn't be a problem

Until such time as you find a matching center (and I agree with Beta- just get another of the same speaker) I would run a phantom center chanel and not worry about that rinky-dink HTiB center- it'll just throw everything off.

Nice vintage find!

Would a Polk CS2 or CS10 work O.K? They seem pretty substantial and they aren't very expensive at all.

Still not going to be timbre matched and probably won't sound the same when panning across the front soundstage. Some people just put up with that though and it doesn't bother them.

Unless it's somewhat discernible, I probably won't notice. (I try not to let that stuff bother me.)
