Default Anyone for Armageddon on Blu?

Was just looking through wikipedia, and noticed that its the 10th anniversary of Armageddon's release next year...

Could they be pulling a "10th Anniversary Edition" for this epic Bruce Willis movie on Blu-ray?

I sure wouldn't mind!

I'd buy it.

Call me a sissy wimp but...I get choked up when Harry take the fall almost every time. It's really freaky.

If I called you a sissy wimp for that, I'd be a hipocrite!

I'd love to see a good release of the director's cut, as I've never seen it because of the high-priced Criterion release and non-anamorphic transfer. I've heard some of the deleted stuff was pretty good though, as far as the character development goes. One scene in particular I want to see was cut from when they show what all the characters do before the mission, and you never see what Bruce Willis does. Apparently he goes to visit his father, and it sounds like a pretty cool scene. I'd love to see this on BD.

Interesting. I'd like to see the extra stuff as well. The PQ and SQ potential of this movie is great. Who doesn't want to see and hear huge slabs of asteroid crunching and careening off of each other ?

I have the DTS Laser Disc of the movie and it sounds awesome. The extened cut on the criterion is pretty good. I would love to see this on blu ray along with the rest of Micheal Bays flicks. They are mindless entertainment but damn they are just good to watch over and over.

Gotta love Bay haters.... Anyway, I'd be all over this release. One of my all-time favorite Big Budget Popcorn movies. Not to mention the score by Harry Gregson-Williams is fantastic!

I'd definitely want to watch it in blu-ray, especially the director's cut. But you have to admit it's a bit over the top.

I remember watching the scene where Ben Affleck goes jumping over the ravine in the moon buggy. I thought to myself, "They could all die right now and I couldn't care less."

The prime early adopter demo is the "explosion" demographic.

Armageddon is Grade A explosive beef. It looks great, sounds great, tastes great, less filling.

It's also been on several lists of "in the works" discs, and combine that with the 10th anniversary, it's a no brainer

While there are well over 400 things technically wrong with the movie (e.g., there is no sound of "huge slabs of asteroid crunching and careening off of each other" and since the Shuttle drains that external tank in about 4.5 minutes how the hell do they do a full burn on *internal* tanks for 11 minutes to "slingshot around the moon" and gravity assist maneuvers are not done that way anyway and the gravity inside the shuttle on the surface of the asteroid would be so low that they would effectively we weightless, etc., etc.) I believe it is one of the better "popcorn flicks" of the past decade. The hero sacrifices himself in the end for the sake of mankind. Corny, but it fits the epic mode.

I just hope the PQ and SQ are handled at least as well as the POTC series. It would be a truly impressive presentation (whether you like the film itself or not) if the transfer is second to none.

Do you think they can use this new technology to completely edit Ben Affleck from the film? Maybe that'll be an alternate track.

I'd buy it. If for nothing than the hardwood floor-splintering bass while watching more and more things explode in 1080p.
