Default I hate the Blu ray movie cases Lost and 24 come in

I hate the Blu ray movie cases Lost and 24 come in. I bought 24 recently and was turning the first fipper over and it some how cought the first disk and lifted it up. I know there is a hard coating on them, but I don't care if you have to get a diamond blade to cut them. I treat them like the most easily scratchable things in the world. I put the disks into 2 pack DVD because I fricken hate the multi Blu-ray cases.

There was immense pressure from multiple sources for studios to reduce the size of multi-disc packaging. This has led to some unfortunate design decisions in my experience.

If they want to cut down on packaging they could use those super skinny packages like they used for the Bond Ultimate Special Editions on DVD, if companies want to cut down on waste they could make all Blu ray cases smaller and skinnier. I mean they could use soft plastic cases ( so they don't break when you drop them.) the same size as a CD but for Blu ray.

I don't mind companies trying to cut back on the plastic they use in Blu ray cases actually I encourage it. But by doing this don't compromize the cases they come in, just make smaller ones because you will sell more copies of The Watchmen, The Dark Knight, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace than you will ever sell of 24 and Lost.

for a long time, dvd tv shows were always released as true boxsets, not cases. i hate when a tv show is released in a regular style case, like 24. at least Lost has a slipcover, but the season 3 was the best because of the box. I also like The Office on blu ray, which stayed true to the boxset style. Heroes is also a good one.

My point is basically that tv shows should be in boxes, not cases, like Dexter, Weeds, Mad Men, Smallville. Boxsets are just more 'collectible' and in my opinion sturdier.

another stragne thing that Fox has done recently is glue a single piece of cardboard on top of the case with their new dvd shows. what genius decided that was a good idea

Seen those new FOX cases everywhere around here, agreed they look like crap and it gives me yet another reason to despise FOX (like there wasn't enough). As soon as I saw Futurama in those crappy cases I instantly went to Best Buy to grab the thick boxes.

yeah, fox puts some good stuff on the air.

the problem is that they have canceled so many good shows in favor of crap, and now they aren't even putting effort into their dvd releases. anything to save a buck, except they are going to extremes other companies wouldn't even consider

I actually really like these cases. They are compact and you can avoid the hinges catching the last disc if you open it slowly. Also, the worst case scenario is the disc pops out a little bit. Unless you rip your discs out like a monster sending the last one flying across the room, it shouldn't be a problem.

I remember when DVD first came out in 1997 I think, anyway I bought Waterworld and it came in a CD case. I really liked that a lot. Plus it was uniform with my CD collection.

Personally I like the slim cases that the matrix came in. I would have to do custom cover art for each movie if I transferred them to the slim cases. I hate how when you tear the packaging open in some cases it sticks to the spine and you can't get it off... I hate that!!!

I think I'm going to find a machine shop to machine me some hard metal cases and stamp the movie poster on the front of the box.

I support you, if you look at some of the home theater photos and you see how people treat their A/V equipment they probably throw the disc down where ever, and their kids finger them all up or get the cases sticky. Don't let the haters get you down....

I actually really like the cases that Star Trek and 24 come in. I'd rather have a compact package design than some of the more bulky efforts, like the UK Planet Earth set.

I get so darn tired of people whining..."I don't like the box these come in" "I don't like the ECO blu-ray boxes" "I don't like that Paramount doesn't put a picture on their discs". Waaa, waaa, waaa. It you don't like the packaging, well, you are probably ignoring the fact that you probably have a really good blu-ray. There was a post earlier about purchasing a blu-ray because the PQ isn't the best, but it is a classic. Are we going to start doing that because of packaging? I seriously doubt studios will do anything about that.

Well I for one like those cases. I love standard cases that look nice and orderly on my shelves. Thusly I rather dislike digipaks, thinpaks, and digibooks. So bravo to Fox for putting their TV seasons in a lovely standard case.

I really like these cases. I actually just ordered a TON of the 4, 5, 6 disc cases so that I can put my Heroes seasons as well as my other series like True Blood and the Office. I am also planning to compine my trilogies and long running sequals in to these cases as well. I want my collection to look neat and consistent and not having digibooks and large boxes sitting in my dvd collection. I like uniform. Cases should arrive in a couple days
