Are you looking for the biggest or best or a mix of both. You could probably get a 73 inch DLP for around $2,000 but it wouldn't have the quality of a 54 inch plasma like the Panasonic G10 that is around the same price. The DLP would also be much bigger and heavier and wouldn't be able to be hung on a stand or wall.

I would like size but quality most of all. I want it at least 50 inches and I do not want a plasma, either lcd or lcd LED. So some size but the best quality I can get for my money and I like the thinner tv's

I'd go for a 73" or 65" Mitsubishi DLP. They are big and the pic quality is awesome. HT magazine has featured them several times. IMO, I'd stay away from LCD.

HA HA; DLP is D-E-A-D!!! Good luck finding a DLP. Trust me; neither one of our Best Buys carry them anymore, and none of the other box stores carry them either.

DLP was just an updated version of the big, boxy, trashy looking projection tv's. Though they were smaller; they weren't by much, but the trashy look was still there.

Agreed, I have the Samsung LN52A750 and I love it, I also paid $1900 for it 8 months ago so for $1599 for the B version is a awesome price.

Well, my local Best Buys still have the Mitsubishi DLP's. My local Magnolia has the new models in the Magnolia room and they have pretty impressive pictures. There is a noticeable upgrade over last year's models in the black level and overall picture quality in general. With that said, I still wouldn't buy a DLP since bulb life is pretty unpredictable and the cost of the replacements are still more than they should be.

Since you don't want plasma which I think is your best option by the way, I would suggest you look at THIS Samsung for $1928.18 shipped, THIS Sharp LED LCD for $1759 shipped, THIS LG for $1680 shipped, THIS LG LED LCD for $2095 shipped, and THIS Toshiba LED LCD for $2115 shipped. All of the LED LCD's I've suggested are local dimming sets and I think one of those will give you the biggest bang for your money. The CCFL sets are good sets too, but definitely take a look at the LED sets.

thanks guys and I feel bad now as I just was offered the chance to buy what will become my holy grail. I have a 50'' HD LCD TV but was planning on buying another until I just was offered the opportunity to buy this...

It is a heath ledger 1/1 silicon Joker bust with real hair made by Bob Causey. Mine is not exactly that one as he just told me he is sculpting a new one which is more accurate. So as much as I wanted one it now has to wait.

if you go DLP make sure you get a LED based dlp, samsung offer a 65" LED DLP. no bulbs to replace, no color wheel to fail and they have a 60,000 hour half life, just like LCD sets

I'm sorry, but I have to rant.....You made this thread and asked for our help and opinions on new LCD tv. We graciously give you help and opinions on what tv's to buy and not buy. Then you go out buy this look alike (beit frighteningly) scary bust of Heath Ledger as Joker. You chose an over priced dust collector over a piece of electronic equipment?!? Dude..You need HELP!!!

Why do people contradict themselves like this?

If you don't want plasma, then you don't want the best quality.
