Default Anyone here actually bought a Blu-spec cd?

Thoughts on the overall quality compared to that of CD/SACD/ etc. ?

I don't see how it could possibly be any different than CD, so if it costs more which I think it does I'm definitely not interested.

On that note, what do you think of SHM CDs Steve?

Default Great sound

I'm listening to a Bob Dylan CD that just came from Japan. Amazing sound! I'm sold on them.

That's cool! Where did you get that CD. I own quite a bunch of Japanese pressed CDs and 9 out of 10 times they sound better than their US counterpart.

I think making a bit for bit copy of the SHM CD using EAC then burned onto a decent quality CD-R will sound the same, therefore I think it's the mastering, not the difference in layer material on the CD, that makes some of the SHM CD's so highly regarded.

So it is in the mastering then....But I have to admit that the SHM version of Metallica's Black album is just mind blowing! Thanks for the clarification Steve

He may be referencing all the Japan Blu-spec cd releases since there are a ton of Bob Dylan ones.
