Default What's Your HD player situation?

so toshiba (hd-dvd) says that they are dominating the hd market, owning 74% of consumer hd-player sales. but what they neglect to include in their stats are PS3 sales because the PS3 is not considered a blu-ray purchase since most people who own them are probably gamers and i guess not interested in watching blu-rays? this is why this poll was created. meanwhile...if youre a ps3 owner, please cast your vote in this poll as well in response to Warner Bro's VP of HD Steve Nickerson who corroborated toshiba's omission of PS3 sales figures, again concluding that PS3's aren't a significant long-term contributor to the HD market since they're being sold as primarily video game systems...

Crap... You're going to make me admit that I haven't really tried the HDMI output yet. I've just watched the Blu-Rays on the screen while traveling. It looks nice, but it's not like the plasma of course. See I've sworn off DVDs, so it's mandatory that I have a portable BD player. I have a smaller Aquos LCD in the bedroom and an older 42" Sony 1080i plasma in the living room (with PS3 and all the other goodies). I'm kind of excited to be picking up a pair of Martin Logan floor standing speakers tomorrow. That's been a long time coming.

As far as the cost, I went b_lls out and just ordered pretty much the high end on most options so it cost me $2,535 before tax and shipping. But the base model starts much cheaper.

I have a PC connected to a 42" plasma TV. I voted neither because PC isn't on the list.

PS3 and a Toshiba HD-A20 but I prefer the PS3 (have about 130 blu-ray movies and only 15 or so HD DVDs).

PS 3... and going by just how the votings going Toshiba might need to take another look at that "PS 3 owners don't buy Blu-ray films" statement they made...

Question both

for those who own both hd-dvd/blu-ray or even combo players...whats your take on this format 'war'? and what objectivity can you bring to the table - hd-dvd vs. blu-ray?

PS3 and a HD-DVD Xbox 360 add on.

I have nearly 3 times as many Blu-Ray discs as I have HD-DVD, I have stopped buying HD-DVD's and have gone exclusively to Blu.

Really I think it was well spent. I got this sytem in Feb. I have:
A dual core 64 bit CPU 2.8GHZ
4 gig ram
1.5TB hard drive space
NIVIDA 7600 GT video card
TV tuner input
2 CD/DVD drives
1 CD/DVD/BD drive
3 Mb/sec internet
IR remote control

Basically this system is entirely built as a media center as I have another computer I use for everything else. I am running low on hard drive space. That will be easy enough to fix. The video card is kinda minimal but it seems to work just fine for blu-rays so what more do I need.
