Default It's October!! Favorite Halloween Movie Poll

Ok I'm following CZAR's lead and creating a poll for the Halloween fans out there. I want to know what's your favorite Halloween movie and why. This should get interesting.

Happy Halloween!

I can't believe that there's gonna be a lot of different answers here--

John Carpenter's original classic is the best by far

favorite sequels of mine are H20 and the original HALLOWEEN II

I would go with Rob Zombie's Halloween remake. I really thought it was good and it scared the crap out of me in theatres when I saw it.

The original Halloween would be my obvious second choice.

The original is the best, no need for a poll. Atmosphere, quality characters, a menacing villain, and one creepy a$$ soundtrack. What more could you ask for?

Side Note: I would like to add that RZ's Halloween 2 was pretty darn good. So my favorites as of now go:

Halloween (78')
Halloween 2 (Remake)
Halloween 2 (81')

Oh its all good leem!! It wouldve been next anyway cause this is my 2nd fav series and horror character! I voted Halloween II (1981), Halloween was great and opened the story and was a great setup for the real chase and cat & mouse game between he & Laurie! It had more action and it was more scary and ofcourse more kills! My top 3 would be:

Halloween II (1981)
Halloween (1978)
Halloween H20: 20 Years Later

The worst are easily Rob Zombie's remakes or f' ups!! Haha!! I like 1-6, H20 & even Ressurection, but I cant do Mr. Zombie!! Got Em!!

Got Em!!

Interesting. I still haven't seen the newest because I'm in Japan. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews, which kind of makes me want to see it even more.

I figured the original would get the most votes...even I voted for it. It's almost a perfect horror movie, but I do hold a few of the sequels near and dear. Halloween 4 is what got me into the series in the first place and I really love the atmosphere of 6, even if the plot was a mess. So here's my order:

Halloween (1978)
Halloween 4
Halloween 6
Halloween II (1981)
Halloween III
RZH (Has grown on me with repeat viewings.)
H20
Halloween 5
Halloween: Resurrection (I think I might vomit)

I'll let you know what I think of Halloween II (2009) when I see it.

I prefer It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. I don't like scary movies.

I've always been one to favor the originals and this is no exception. Halloween (1978) easily. Then maybe Halloween 2 (1980) and Halloween Resurrection. I know I'm in the minority there but just like the whole internet reality show send and Buster Rimes was good. The only thing I would prefer RZ's Halloween movies to would be Halloween III: Season of the Witch.

I do like the new Halloween. Do not know why The best sequel has to be the original H2.

I think it gets most of the hate from the fact that it's from RZ instead of people actually sitting down and watching it. There is some pretty good gore, the cinematography is great, and Myers was sent into a whole new dimension. The dream sequences are a little funky, but everything else made up for it. Also, Brad Dourif (Officer Brackett) puts on a great performance. This truly was RZ's Halloween. He took it and put his stamp on it. I personally disregard his first effort and just go straight to H2.

Put aside what you know about Carpenter's Halloween and I say this is one of the best Slashers to come around in a while.

I thought the thread was about Halloween-night movies in general and I STILL voted for Halloween III:
Be in front of your TV sets at nine for the Big Giveaway, kiddies, and don't forget to wear your masks--The clock is ticking...It's almost tiii-ime....
(One suspects this to be a running discussion point, as defenders have already surfaced in two other threads.)

And, just in case we can spin a "General Halloween movies" thread off of this, it's worth mentioning "Curse of the Demon" and "Something Wicked This Way Comes" as well--
But then, part of film literacy is diversity.

Wow I'm really looking forward to this now. Thanks for the mini-review. It's nice to hear a different perspective. I do find it interesting that Zombie tried something different for the franchise.

Voted for Carpenter's original. I like all of the sequels, even part 3, but not a big fan of RZ's remake. Haven't seen his new one, though.

I would be shocked if it wasn't John Carpenter's 1978 version....it was the first horror movie I saw as a kid where I was actually afraid to go to bed! And that music too!!!
