India/Bollywood RVR - Telugu Movie Releasers!

This thread is for the discussion of current and future Blu-Rays from RVR.

The first one being Arundathi BD, they want to know what our expectations are as the end consumers from their Blu-Ray which is in the authoring phase now. The VP has promised to personally checkout our queries in this thread and will pass on valid points to his engineering team.

This is our chance to make sure we get a better product. So, please do pour in your ideas/expectations.

Cheers!

Does Its Price ($12.99) Compromise Its Quality?

^ Nope, quality won't be affected. AFAIK, if the authoring costs goes up, the price will increase accordingly.

Nope the motive of the company is to provide you with un-compromised quality with the lowest pricing in the market and so you will find the rates low with our DVD-9 too!!

Thank you,

I have already posted a post with few links to know more about the company RVRi, its under review by moderators :-)

a few things about picture quality to keep in mind.

contrast

color saturation

color temperatures and skin tones

the amount of detail loss due to compression

a good bitrate, that doesnt compromise the quality of the film, while maintain the BD-50 limits

no edge enhancement for sharpness

maintain original aspect ratio

no digital noise reduction to remove film grain

if the movie has gone through a digital intermediate....use that as your source, rather than a 35mm masterprint.

hope that helps, and we really appreciate your effort to improve your quality through our feedback.

Thank you for bringing up the key points, Just FYI...the master source is DPX. Hope that gives you a clue on the output..

Thank you,

hi RVR

got my copy of Arundathi today, totally crap ,wheres all the good things u spoke abt???? its nothing but a repacked dvd9 in a BD box .

u also mislead people to belive there was Dolby true HD by printing it on the cover, its simply not there ,and PQ is very ordinary i wud say jst abt 10-15:/: better than the DVD .
U also have not maintained the original Aspect ratio , the dvd did-------its a total let down sir this kind of quality will simply not work in screen sizes of 120"

u need to re-author this BD

Yes, This is a highly acclaimed movie in South India. It is the first South Indian movie (not Bollywood) to get into UK top 10. And also it is the highest grossing Indian movie in 2007.

Not to beleaguer your point, but you got all your facts wrong pal. Sivaji was the first South Indian movie to get into UK top 10. Budget of Sivaji was 60 crores with a revenue of 450 crores. The highest grossing Indian movie, period, in 2007.

Arundathi was released in 2009 (16th January 2009 to be precise) and not 2007 with a budget of 13 crores and a revenue of 40 crores. Sorry dude, you need to fact check.

PS: Hopefully you're not talking about Sivaji in Arundathi thread
