I would love to own casper on blu-ray it is one of my favorite movies. Has anyone heard any plans for this?

I'm still not certain whether this movie is just underrated, or that nostalgia has simply blinded me from seeing the truth. Either way, I'd love a Blu-ray release of this.

Me to I would love to see this movie on Blu-ray, I thought Universal would have released it for the Christmas season this year.

I hope they will released it in 2012, and hopefully not wait until 2015 for a 20th anniversary edition.

I would also love to have a blu-ray of this movie in my collection.... and I am not sure why. It is fun to watch, and isn't that what movies are for?

what I love about this film is the soundmix, sure it might be a tad dated, but the 5.1 is really wild and imaginative - maybe it's something about ghosts, since Peter Jackson's 'The Frighteners' has an insane mix, and Universal pretty much didn't 'eff it up and the audio pretty much mirrors the DTS laserdisc - I hope when Universal gets around to releasing this on blu, it also sounds just as good or better than it's laserdisc counterpart.

I remember when this movie was released because I was 11 years old and the soul reason I wanted to see this film at all was because Christina Ricci. At the time I only knew her for Wednesday Addams in the Addams Family movies as I am sure most people did as well. Now 28, I still enjoy this film to this day and would love more than anything to see this get a Blu-ray treatment!

Haven't seen this one in ages, but from what I remember the DTS laserdisc used to be a reference disc for showing off a home theater back in the day.

what was fun about the mix is that the voices of the ghosts were not just contained to the center channel, but literally all around you.

why Universal couldn't get their act together and release this, THIS month - is befuddling.

Universal is probably waiting until 2015 to release this so they can release a 20th anniversary edition.

By that time, we will be seeing the death of physical media, if not a whole new format altogether. Considering all the junk that has been released on bluray, it astonishes me that titles like this, have not come to see the light of Bluray. I understand many title's missed DVD & VHS release, so time will only tell.

There's a lot more junk on DVD but it took Universal six years after the birth of DVD to release it on that format. Universal has been slow as molasses at releasing catalog titles.

I agree. That is the only problem with blu-ray that I have there are so many titles that have been released on DVD that have yet to be brought on Blu-ray. Hopefully Universal with starting bringing more of their films out starting next year.
